Imagine a charming house with self isolating host in separate apartment. Exclusive to one private booking only. It is 40 minutes by car from Dublin, yet wonderfully pastoral and romantic, in the heart of the Garden County and within a few minutes of great walking in famous Glendalough! Once Covid is over I will be able to return to the kitchen to make homemade scones and Irish breakfast.

The space
My space is cosy and imaginatively decorated with feminine colour schemes and homely touches. There is a lovely family-friendly room with comfy king double bed (orthopaedic mattress) and comfy bed sofa which can be used for a child or for an adult. However, the room works equally well as a romantic space. There is another really lovely king double (master bedroom) with added queen single with sizeable marble en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. There are two other pretty rooms one with queen-size 4ft single bed and one with European double 4ft 6". All rooms are ensuite. I think my listing is unique because of the wealth of horse riding, garden touring and walking opportunities in the locality. Apart from the Wicklow National Park and wonderful Glendalough a few minutes away by car, there's also the stunning Brittas Bay beach only half an hour away by car. Ashford itself is a charming and friendly village which boasts the famous Mount Usher Gardens, inspired by the great English Romantic gardens of 100 years ago. Special features of my space are the fact that I can do lovely afternoon teas (in the drawing room or lavender terrace €18 pp) as I am an artisan baker. I can also give baking classes for those who are especially keen to learn to bake. €30 per baking class which teaches scones and soda bread. Dinner is €25 for nibbles hearty country house style main course and small dessert or €15 for just main course. All welcome to BYOB. The maximum my space fits would be 8 people (3 in the family double room 1 adult per single room with queensize 4ft bed 2 in the master bedroom and 2 in the smaller double). I also have two handy travel cots for babies.

Guest access
There is a lovely drawing-room to relax and unwind. There's also a great kitchen, but a word of warning for those who don't like dogs, as I have two self isolating mini dachshunds on site! Also a word to those allergic to horses as my horse lives at the back of the house! I am hoping to be able to combine best of both worlds by either catering for guests (in non Covid times) if they would like or else leaving them to enjoy their privacy in my lovely home.

Other things to note
The garden is very beautiful, although there is still plenty of work to be done in order to complete the garden design! My artistic landscape designer is hoping in time to do a lot more planting, and meantime, tea or sparkling wine on the lavender scented terrace proves very popular in the summer time particularly!!

My elderly and much loved horse lives in a stable in the garden! He is beautiful.

I am now doing a precautionary and thorough Anti-Covid disinfecting and cleaning routine as recommended by Air BnB and I am self isolating in my apartment though will be in the "stable area" outside to tend to my horse. No shoes upstairs would be aporeciated as hygienic and clean.

There is such a wealth of beauty and amazing scenery for the nature lover, it's hard to know where to begin! The absolutely stunning views from the famous Glendalough walks...the lovely little Wicklow villages...the vale of Avoca, the views from the top of Wicklow town which are like Antibes with magnificent coastal views and basking seals. Wonderful Brittas Bay beach is the perfect place for a romantic walk with your loved one or a playful day with children. And there are great horse riding opportunities in Glendalough, in Bel Air Hotel in Ashford and in Boswell Equestrian Centre, (just around the corner from me). Wicklow is also a very popular place for cyclists and there are many beautiful and scenic routes. It is possible to hire bikes locally. Also, there is fine dining in The Wicklow Heather, Laragh, The Lighthouse restaurant Wicklow and the famous Bates of Rathdrum. And for the traditional diner, there is always fabulous Hunters Hotel near Ashford for the perfect Sunday lunch or romantic dinner for two. In addition, there is the charming and friendly Chester Beatty pub in Ashford with a lovely menu, and there is Avoca Garden Cafe in Mount Usher Courtyard in Ashford.

I am a friendly and sociable person with a happy outlook and a good sense of humour. I really love my family and my animals and I also have a great network of friends from all walks of life. One of my favourite movies is Mrs. Doubtfire with the late great Robin Williams. So many favourite books, hard to list them. The last great novel I read was Rebecca Miller's fascinating story of an 18th century Jewish pedlar who was reincarnated as a fly. Favourite music includes Italian opera, fabulous Amy Winehouse, Imelda May, cheesy Country Music, vintage R. Stones. I love all kinds of food, although I end up eating fish and salad most days. My life's motto is Carpe Diem and I hope I try to live up to that motto, appreciating all that life can offer.

During your stay
I am a friendly and helpful person and I would really like guests to know that they can rely on me to help them enjoy their stay in my beautiful corner of the world. Although during Covid I only interact with guests in the garden and I do not enter guest space during their stay. I stay in the back of the house in an annexe with my dogs and horse (stabled at back of house) and there is lots of space for everyone as guests have the separate bedroom wing drawing room and entrance hall. Since Covid I can self isolate in my annexe
with dogs though still on site.
