The Old Sheep Ranch Cottage is situated on a hill 350 feet above sea level (out of the tsunami zone), overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is ten acres of mostly nature and is incredibly peaceful. This area used to be a sheep ranch, and our home was the Rancher’s house. Now the sheep are gone and the area is home to a handful of families nestled into the hills and trees. It is very private and peaceful, while still close to all that this amazing gem of the Oregon coast has to offer.

The space
The space is incredibly calming with soft colors, natural fabrics and rugs, lots of warm natural light and bountiful plants. The energy of the cottage is clean and whole, fresh and healing. The view is of green all year round. The space is private and restful.

The cottage is a detached 350 square-ft studio, containing a full bathroom with cast iron soaking tub, kitchen with a four-burner range/oven and full size refrigerator (both new in the last year), queen organic mattress and small dining table with chairs. Guests also have access to private outdoor patio with a view of the garden and ocean.

Also located on the property is an herb garden, small vegetable garden, fruit trees, blackberry bushes, and 10 acres of forest, containing mostly douglas fir, alder, cascara and myrtle trees. You are welcome to the herbs, berries, fruit from the trees, and to explore the forest.

We always provide simple items for your breakfast, usually organic, that may change from time to time but generally include coffee, a variety of tea, granola, a cereal, bread, peanut butter, nut milk, butter, salt, pepper, olive oil & honey.

Leave a stone at the center of our medicine wheel garden with the intention of peace. We hope you leave with more peace in your mind and love in your heart.

Outdoor Adventures
This area is a dream for outdoor lovers. A 5 minute drive away is one of the best kite boarding locations in the Nation on Floras Lake, and there is also a school if you would like to learn. Bandon boasts new and wonderful mountain bike trails. The road biking here is beautiful. And there are glorious hikes as well, including Humbug Mountain which is an old-growth forest, and magical Blacklock point, the Old Coast Guard Trail, and the Cape Blanco trail, just to name a few. Surfing is getting hot around here too, with a fun surf shop in Port Orford and a good local break about 20 minutes from the house. This area is home to one one the most beautiful Golf courses in the world, called Bandon Dunes, a 30 minute drive north. There is also a wonderful local course a 7 minute drive from the house, called Bandon Crossings.

The Seasons
Each season here on the coast is a joy to experience.
WINTER - Come in the winter to experience the coastal storms that are dramatic. The storms rip from the end of November to the end of February. Storm after storm rolls in from the sea, battering the trees and whipping horizontal rain. Every few days the rain will break to breathtaking blue skies. This is the best time to come for a cozy stay on the coast. Bring your books, and nestle in with hot chocolate, coffee and tea, and watch the storms roll in and out. It rarely gets below 45 degrees, and the storms are not constant, so you’ll be able to get out and explore.
SPRING - The weather breaks around the 3rd or 4th of March to glorious sunshine mixed with little rain showers throughout the day and evening. Plants explode during this time, and you’ll be blessed with sights of the greenest greens, and spring in full bloom.
SUMMER - Summer days are sunny, occasionally starting with a misty morning. The weather is cool, with temperatures rarely reaching above 70. Plants bloom and evenings are cool with striking sunsets.
FALL - Fall is much like Summer, with temperatures staying around 70 during the day and cooling off in the evening The ocean tends to calm for these months are we are graced with sweet warm breezes. We are blessed not to receive fires out here on the coast, so its a great place to escape the heat and fires
