Beautiful farmhouse on 10 acres in rural southern Virginia! Enjoy peace and serenity in the country!

The space
Lovely country farmhouse with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs). The main level of the home features a living room with two couches, a music/game room, a dining room with seating for 4-6, a kitchen equipped with an electric range, a laundry room with W/D for your use, and one bathroom with a shower stall. The second level features 3 bedrooms, one of which has an attached bath with a shower/bath combo. All three bedrooms are furnished with a queen bed; there is also a queen air bed available for use. The home has central heating and cooling on the main level and window AC units in each bedroom. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook a lovely meal! A charcoal grill is available for your use, as well.

**The home comfortably sleeps 6 adults in 3 queen beds, but can accommodate additional guests on airbeds.**

The property features over 10 acres for your enjoyment. A small creek is located on the south/east side of the property and marks the property boundary. Several historic tobacco barns/structures are located throughout the property (**we ask that you enjoy the structures from the outside and do not enter any of the structures for your safety**). Wander the property, picnic outdoors, watch for wildlife (deer, turtles, frogs, birds, and bear have all been spotted!), and star gaze at night (particularly in the winter months). Also a wonderful spot for fall foliage!

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire house and property (excluding the workshop).

Location

Nathalie, Virginia, United States

The home is located in a rural area of Southern Virginia, surrounding by farms and homesteads. But there are plenty of interesting things nearby! Also, ask us about any local events that might be happening (like the annual blueberry festival, Yoga by the Pool, local music, etc.). Our favorite nearby features include:
- Hunting Creek Vineyards (15 minutes): the tasting room is open on Saturdays from 12-5 and offers great wine with a lovely pastoral view from the tasting barn or patio.
- Conner Lake (15 minutes): A boat ramp is available for kayaks or small watercraft. Swimming is not permitted, but the lake is quite scenic for rowing around and/or fishing.
- Halifax (18 minutes): A cute little town with a few restaurants (check out Molasses Grill!), a farmers market (Saturdays from 8-1), and a handful of stores (Cozy Cottage, Peddler's Market, Toots Creek Antiques).
- Bannister Lake (18 minutes): A boat ramp and small picnic area (with viewing dock) is available. The lake is fairly long and narrow offering opportunities for kayaking and fishing. You can also paddle to the dam.
- Staunton River and Brookneal (19 minutes): A small town offering a grocery store (Food Lion) and wonderful food at The Drug Store Grill. Also offers boat access to the Staunton River. Red Hill (Patrick Henry's last home and burial place) is also located here.
- South Boston (30 minutes): A slightly larger city with several restaurants (Bistro 1888, Berry Hill Plantation, Southern Plenty, etc.), shopping, The Prizery (offering an art gallery and theater in a historic building located in the South Boston Tobacco Warehouse District), the Tobacco Heritage Trail, and Southern Virginia Raceway, among many other attractions.
-Staunton River State Park (37 minutes): Lakeside park on Kerr Reservoir featuring picnicking, lake access, and a swimming pool.
-Southern VA wine/beer/spirits (varies): A handful of wineries and distilleries are located within 15-45 minutes of the house, including Hunting Creek Vineyards (mentioned above), Bright Meadow Farm Vineyard, Springfield Distillery, Bondurant Brothers Distillery, San Soucy Vineyards, Staunton River Brewing Company, etc. Feel free to ask us for more info about any of these!

I am a transplant to Virginia, born and raised on the west coast! I relocated to Virginia in 2017, and live with my family in Richmond, VA. I purchased the farm in southern Virginia in 2019 so that my partner and I could enjoy the country farm life, while still living in and enjoying Richmond! We plan to plant an orchard and start a cidery on the farm property - so stay tuned for that! We love to have people stay at the farm house and enjoy the property, just like we do! As hosts, we like to give people space and privacy to do whatever suits them during their stay, but we're always just a phone call away with help or suggestions!
