Idyllic Traditional Irish Farmhouse.
An oasis of tranquility in the heart of the countryside. Enjoy real Irish Country Hospitality in a charming 1800's farmhouse, with log fires, brass beds, and views of the rolling green fields.
Go to Sleep to the twinkling of the stars and wake to the sound of bird song!
This beautiful house and farm has been in the same family for 6 generations, and will enchant and beguile you.
Arrive a Stranger, and Leave as a Friend!

The space
Enjoy the unique experience of a traditional farmhouse, with your own private access to 2 large bedrooms, bathroom with shower and bath( hairdryer, shampoo, and shower gel provided), and a Parlour with a host of original features! ( Please be aware of low doors in period houses!!).
A Log fire and cosy beds await you.
A continental breakfast is provided, with Tea and Coffee available at any time. Also a fridge and microwave if you require it. Breakfast can be outside in the garden when weather permits if you wish.
The Front garden is the Guests area, and is a secure area, except for the calves looking in over the wall !
The house is surrounded by working farms, so activities vary according to the Seasons. There will occasionally be farm noises and smells which are part of living in a Rural Community.
This home has pets, A Boxer dog and cat. They will not be in your part of the house, unless you invite them in, and if you do, be prepared to be loved unconditionally by them!!!
Unfortunately we cannot accept guests pets.
You are welcome to arrive from 4pm ( with drop off of luggage welcome any time), and feel free to relax till 11am .
The only smoke welcome in the house is turf and wood smoke, all others will be put outside!
The bedrooms are upstairs, so the property is not wheelchair friendly, but there are two handrails for your convenience on the stairs.
The house is down a private driveway and is over 1/2 km from the road and village of Killasmeestia. So "walking distance" is a personal choice!!
Parking is free and secure. Bedrooms have their own keys for added security.
There is WIFI and TV, in the Sitting Room. Signal can be erratic in other parts of the house due to the thick walls and location.
Be prepared for the peace and serenity of the area to sooth and charm you.

Where you’ll be

, Ireland

Raheensheara, is a farm in the South West of Laois. It is surrounded by rolling farmland nestled between the Slieve Bloom Mountains in the North ( designated a World Heritage Site in 1986), and the Cullahill Mountains in the South. the area was originally known as Upper Ossory.
The little village of Killasmeestia is at the top of the Driveway.
The Local area is nestled between Rathdowney and Borris-in-Ossory.
This is a real slice of Rural Ireland, with Donaghmore Museum just minutes away, and the Heritage Towns of Roscrea and Abbeyleix a short drive away.
The Rock of Dunamase, Emo Court, Damer House, Timoney Standing Stones, The Devils Bit, Cullahill Castle, Grantstown Lake, Abbeyleix Bog Walk, GlenBarrow Waterfall, and The Ridge Of Cappard Walkway are all waiting to be explored near by.
The Nearest pub, is The Green Roads and is about 3km away.
There are a number of traditional pubs within a 10 minute drive, in Borris-in-Ossory, Rathdowney, Errill, Knock and Coolrain. A little further gets you to Durrow, Roscrea, Portlaoise, and Templemore.
There are a number of lovely restaurants catering from a cup of coffee, an Irish breakfast to fine Dining very nearby.
I would suggest Rosie O'Gradys (Borris-in-Ossory,) Roisin's Loft (Ballaghmore), Fiacri House (Knock) The Willow Tree (Rathdowney), Bowe's (Durrow), Durrow Castle (Durrow), and The Cotttage (Loughmore) and many many more.....
Come and discover this little bit of the Beautiful Hidden Ireland.

I am the 6th generation of my family to live in this house. I farmed for many years and the property is still a working farm (but not by me!) , thus leaving me with a passionate interest in all things Rural and agricultural. I am also involved in local tourism promotion, because I think this area is a beautiful undiscovered gem in the heart of Ireland. I love nothing more than helping others fall in love with the Land of O'Moore. Because I live in an old period house, I love anything to do with Antiques. There are quirky but apt items all over the house as a result of auction hunting! I love a chance to upcycle a preloved but worn piece of furniture and give it a new lease of life. I also love animals and my pets are my family. There's nothing like a wagging tail to welcome you home! I love meeting new people and making great friends.
