Beach house with its own little island.

Created as a refuge for mindful, contemplative and creative practices. Śūnyatā is available to rent 3 months of the year, the rest of the time it is an artist residency/retreat by invitation only.

Sharing the shade of the Bhodi tree from the Monastery next door, hidden in the tree canopy overlooking the Island and the harbor the fully equipped bespoke house is a peaceful sanctuary within its own private cove and secluded island beach out front.

The space
The house is full of bespoke furniture and handcrafted details like the sea shell terrazzo sink and a Japanese style soaking tub and special woven rugs ,wooden pieces and baskets sourced from across the island and further travels. Our 'best of both worlds' location makes us special, only just a 3 min drive and a 15 minute walk to access the popular cafes and surf of Hiriketiya but still far enough and tucked into a beach cove to feel like you are secluded on your very own island.
Our house manager Madu is here to look after you. The house will be serviced every other day and the garden tended to daily. If you like Madu can arrange airport transfers, bike rental, tours and your daily tuk-tuks, he has 10 years experience managing Ayurvedic retreat centers and if interested can assist in setting up Dr consultation and treatments with the center nearby. We want to ensure your stay is a personal retreat so we are here to help wherever needed.

We have two cute well behaved pups Soorya and Taru and an adorable kitten Isabella Aurora that live on the property.

Nilwella, Southern Province, Sri Lanka

We are in the small fishing village of Nilwella; a peaceful and beautiful area with monkeys, peacocks and bird life. Just outside the house is great snorkeling and swimming on the island where you will be sure to spot a turtle. We want this to be a place for you to get away and let go. The more busy and touristic Hiriketeya is 2km, just over the next bay 20 min walk or 3 minute tuk tuk.
