Description

Beautiful location right on the shore of Kenmare Bay just 2 miles from Kenmare town. Watch the otters, sea birds and wild deer from your deck overlooking the beach. Relax in the outdoor Jacuzzi or by the wood stove. Spacious recently renovated home, originally built by my grandparents as a holiday home in the 1950s, successfully adapted for the 21st century!

Originally built by my grandparents in the 1950s, on the farm featured in Harry Bewick's 1930s book 'A Wild Taste'. We have endeavored to bring this historical gem into the 21st century.

Our private beach and slipway, so guests are welcome to bring their own kayaks and other watersport equipment (at their own risk).
Also enjoy our woodland and waterfall walks through acres of ancient Irish woodland

As little or as much as you want!

Quiet secluded cabin right by the sea, with otters and deer (and even the occasional sea eagle!) for company!

Bring your car as there is not a regular bus service here

There is an additional charge for electricity. We read the meter at arrival and departure and work out usage as per current electricity prices
We will not be offering short stay holidays in summer 2015 so in July & August 2015 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
Also as the cabin is heated with a wood burning stove, on cold winter days you will need to get a good fire going to heat up the radiators. A big basket of fuel is included in the price.
Thank you!

We stayed here for two nights and had a great time. The log cabin was lovely and spacious, the wood burner was very cosy after a days travelling and the cabin overlooks a stunning lake, the photos do not do it justice! Kenmare itself is a short drive and we ate in Cara's recommendation PF McCarthys which was nice and the next night ate in a pub in kenmare and had some great live music. Also drove to Gleninchaquin park and took the two hour walk over the waterfall which had amazing views and is a must! Would definitely recommend staying at Cara's.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Cara's cabin! It is located in such a lovely, peaceful area surrounded by walking trails and with easy access to Kenmare. It had all of the ammenities we could need - i.e. coffee maker, washer/dryer, television - and the hot tub of course which was the perfect way to end our days. 5 stars, would definitely reccommend!

Cara is an excellent host. She was very quick with responding to any questions we had and gave us our space after we arrived. The cabin is absolutely stunning and very quiet. The location is perfect for hiding from the world, but also close enough to town (5 minute drive) if you feel like exploring. Cara also left two binders full of local information and notes on the hiking trails that start right on the property. You can even hear the waterfall from the front yard! I would recommend this cabin to anybody looking for some peace and quiet to relax and take it all in.
