If you're after immersion in Armenian culture, this is the place. Nver, Vahagn and family are overwhelmingly kind and considerate. Their farm, the village of Fantan and the surrounding region offer a fascinating insight into Armenia's past and present. You will gain weight here: the meals, prepared almost entirely with fresh ingredients from the farm (the lavash is homemade, as is the matzoon, the walnuts and apricots homegrown), are delicious. Nver was a conscientious and thoughtful tour guide and refused to take all of the money we owed him for ferrying us about. You are my children for these few days, he said, and it felt like it. Pretty unique.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at Fantan. The entire family made us feel welcome. They took us to many incredible sights including well-known spots such as Geghard Monastery as well as interesting off the beaten path locations that we really enjoyed. At each of those stops, they provided unique insights that we would not have discovered if we went on our own and we came away with a much greater appreciation for Armenia. However, our favorite part of the stay was on the farm itself, where they truly made us feel like part of the family. There was more fresh, delicious, and authentic food than we could have ever imagined (much better than the popular restaurants we tried in Yerevan). All in all, Fantan was the highlight of our entire trip and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Armenia.

What an amazing, incredible experience! This is one of the nicest and most generous families you will ever meet. If you're looking for a glimpse into the real Armenia, this is a no-brainer. Vahagn and his father picked me up at the airport late at night and they provided transportation throughout my stay, even insisting on spending an entire day waiting with their car mid-way up Mt. Aragats as I climbed to the summit in the snow. They showed me churches and temples and the Genocide Museum, taught me about their country and culture, and introduced me to their extended family, all of whom are incredibly friendly. As mentioned in other reviews, the food is never-ending and delicious, and the toasts don't stop either; you will not leave hungry!! This family will ensure that you have absolutely everything you need for a comfortable and memorable stay. They truly made me feel like a part of their family, and I leave Armenia with fond memories that I will never forget. My absolute highest recommendation!!

Wow! Fantan Farm was an amazing experience. We were treated like family and well fed: extremely well fed : ) It's a close distance from Yerevan and serene. A few rooster calls in the morning, some cows mooing throughout the day, and surrounded by rolling hills. Again, the food was amazing. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner... And the hosts were like family. A home away from home.

Any traveller to Armenia looking to experience country life should visit Fantan and spend a few days enjoying the incredible hospitality of this family. While only a short drive from Yerevan, Fantan is a great contrast with its open, rolling hills dotted with livestock and wildflowers. Nver, Anahit and their nephew Gevorg made us immediately welcome with tea, coffee and some of the wonderful fruit they grow on the farm. It was the first of many large and delicious meals: small appetites are not allowed here. Anahit is a fantastic cook and most of the food you eat comes straight from the farm: fruit, yogurt, cheese, bread, greens, juices, preserves and on and on. Our first afternoon we spent on a walk through the countryside and getting to know the family and their farm. We enjoyed a quiet evening (after a huge supper) and after walking with Nver to retrieve his cattle sat on the porch and watched the sun set behind Mt. Aragats. Later that night their son Vahagn returned from his job in Yerevan and we had a nice chat. While Nver and Anahit speak little English, both Vahagn and and Gevorg are good translators and between their help and some good natured sign language we communicated perfectly well. Our second day involved a day trip to the amazing sights at Garni and Geghard, accompanied by Nver, Gevorg and his sister Emma. The personal touch of this tour made it really wonderful. On our return to Fantan, we were included in a lunchtime birthday party for Emma at their parents house which is more in the center of the village. A large number of the extended family was gathered and made us feel very welcome. We were able to see how the toneer oven (which is also used in the making of lavash) is prepared for a khoravats barbecue. Once again the quantity and variety of delicious homemade food overwhelmed us, and we shared many toasts to the health and friendship of all at the table. Most of that afternoon and evening was devoted to digestion! The following morning we said goodbye to our new friends and returned by taxi to Yerevan. If you visit Fantan Farms you will be richly rewarded by the kindness of the hosts and the amazing environs. The accommodations are rural and not fancy (if you prefer only luxury hotels this would not be for you) but everything is clean, complete and presented with care. We consider ourselves very lucky to have happened on this wonderful place on AirBnB.

The other reviews are all accurate, and there's more to add! Every member of the extended family I interacted with was kind, helpful, and so welcoming. Anahit and Nevar (spelling?) are amazing hosts; Anahit is a superb cook, and Nevar makes sure you never miss a meal. Vahagn is a fascinating person to talk to, and all in all I always felt "at home" when I was there. Moreover, if you're into hiking, this is the place to go; there are incredibly fields and hills around Fantan which you can climb at will.

I stayed at Fantan for only one night but it was a lovely experience. Vaagn's uncle picked me up in Yerevan and took me back to Yerevan as well. The whole family is so kind and the food they served was delicious -- almost everything from the farm including cheese, eggs, fruits, vegetables and honey. Anahit even makes lavash in the basement. The town of Fantan is a traditional very small farming community in the middle of a dramatic alpen valley, gorgeous.
