Our Executive Barn offers a luxurious stay in a rustic farm setting with amazing views. The spacious, private unit features a king bed, fully equipped kitchen with continental breakfast, accessible bathroom, outdoor hot tub for two, and smart TV with free Netflix + fast Wi-Fi. Guests are free to walk around the farm and feed the friendly animals. By night, soak in the hot tub and enjoy the dazzling stars!

The space
The Executive Barn: The modern and warm accommodation is located on a 75 acre farm, and separated from the other guest accommodation to provide space and privacy. The owners’ house is nearby if you need anything. The Executive Barn has its own small garden with BBQ area, outside dining area, and outdoor hot tub for two, perfect for contemplating the stars of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve.

The farm: We encourage our guests to walk around the farm. It’s a great place to relax and visit the cute and entertaining farm animals who love to make new friends! We have sheep, alpaca, chickens, highland cattle and goats. We provide complimentary feed so you can handfeed the animals.

Airbnb tip: Consider booking the Executive Barn for a multiple night stay! It’s the perfect base to explore the Mackenzie Region, with Aoraki Mount Cook and Lake Tekapo a scenic 45-minute drive away.

Star Gazing: The Executive Barn is in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, which means it’s ideal for stargazing! On clear nights, soak in the outdoor tub – you’ll see amazing stars and Milky Way and if you're lucky, a shooting star or two!

Bedroom: King bed

Kitchen: A continental breakfast is provided. There’s an oven, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. We provide tea, coffee, sugar, cookies, cooking oil, salt, and pepper. Dishwashing liquid detergents and dish washing powder (dishwasher) is provided.

Entertainment: large screen smart TV with Netflix and fast Wifi. An “Alexa” is in the bedroom, for music, podcasts, alarms etc.

Laundry: Washing machine and washing powder are in the barn. A clothes drying rack is in the bedroom. Iron and ironing board in the bedroom.

Heating: The Executive Barn is a new build (what year?), warm and well insulated with double glazing. There’s a heat pump in the living room and heated towel rail in the bathroom.

Guest access
You don’t have to just stay in the accommodation area – please explore the whole property! There’s a map in the cottage with walks, showing where all the animals live. Please close gates behind you. Make sure you go into the sheep enclosure to handfeed the sheep (and see the lambs if it’s Spring time).

The Executive Barn is ideal for couples who want to get away and have a relaxing time in the peace and quiet of the countryside. Enjoy stunning mountain views, the spectacular Mackenzie dark skies, and the added bonus of very friendly farm animals who love to make new friends and be handfed!

Twizel is a growing small town which has numerous good restaurants, coffee shops, fishing and hunting stores. located 40 mins drive from Mt Cook it's the service town for the Mt Cook National park and and ideal place to base yourself to explore the area. advise on local tours can be given upon request.
