A handcrafted a-frame desert home on a hill with 360° views of the Joshua Tree desert. Dine, relax or sleep on the screened-in porch. Have a swing with amazing views of the national park or hammocks positioned for sunrise and set views. Stargaze around the fire under the desert sky. Lounge under vaulted ceilings or bathe next to a bay window with Joshua Trees views. With a full kitchen, outdoor desert living, and 40+ Joshua Trees, this is the perfect desert home to relax and reset.

The space
SLEEPING PORCH
You will first enter a 300 sq ft enclosed wrap around sleeping porch ready for your morning yoga and coffee, an afternoon swing in the hammock chair, meals outside or a sleep on the queen futon bed in the far corner of the porch. The breeze swirls through here making it the coolest spot we know outdoors during the summer in the desert.

SLEEPING & BATHING
The home is most comfortable for 4-6 people depending on your sleeping and bathing needs.

Bedroom 1 is downstairs with a queen bed and en-suite half bath that also houses the homes washer and dryer.

Bedroom 2 is a large upstairs a-frame loft with a king bed, seating and gorgeous views. It has one open wall (railing only) that overlooks the living room. There are also stairs that lead down to a smaller room with sofa bed.

Room 3 is a small room with a pullout sofa bed and a spiral staircase to the loft (thus not a private room if someone stays in the loft).

There is also a queen size futon bed on the enclosed porch if you’d like to sleep outdoors with screened in views of the desert sky.

The house is available for 8 if two people sleep outside or use the air mattress.

There is one full bath, on the first floor off main hallway, with bathtub windowsill seating and views of the property’s Joshua Trees and desert views.

LIVING & DINING
The living room and dining room are under a vaulted ceiling in an open floor plan with the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware and common appliances as well as cooking oils and spices so you can prepare your favorite meals. There is a coffee and espresso Keurig machine with milk frother. Or there is a pour over coffee setup for those who enjoy a slow brew in the morning.

Enjoy the sunrise over the national park from the porch dining table, outdoor set of Adirondack chairs overlooking California’s high desert and Joshua Tree National Park. Wind down with some sunset yoga behind the house or relax in a hammock.

ACCESSIBILITY
The home has a sunken living room meaning there is a single step down when you enter the living room from either the front entrance, kitchen or hallway. Both bathrooms are on the first floor of the house and you do not need to use the staircase to access them, but there is a step down and up from the living room.

Where you’ll be

Joshua Tree, California, United States

3 minutes to the shops and restaurants of Joshua Tree and 9 minutes to the Joshua Tree National Park entrance, our home is centrally located but still far enough off the main roads to park and shops that it is very quiet. The homes on our street all sit on an acre or more of land and thus you get that rural desert feel, yet so close to it all.

Claire grew up in and loves the desert, Victor loves the outdoors and rock climbing. We fell in love, got engaged and then married in Joshua Tree. Though we live and work full time in San Diego, our second home for ourselves and two children is The Desert Julep just outside Joshua Tree National Park. If not there, you can find us on the road in our van.
