The space
For the past four years we have been greeting guests from all parts of the world and have been delighted with the reviews to date. This is converted apartment, new tiles, kitchen, furniture, bathroom fittings etc have been installed . Unbelievably spacious, measuring 80 square meters. Black out blinds are fitted if you wish to have a snooze during daylight hours.. You will have super king size bed and lockers with table lamps. Bathroom has power shower, w/b, w/c, bidet supplied by Roca. Apartment is spacious and incorporated into a house that was built eight years ago. It was used by me as a photographic studio, offices and waiting room. I have now retired. Besides wifi at 25 mbs., there is a Bose Soundlink Bluetooth speaker where you can listen via your smartphone or tablet to music or connect to radio from any part of the world.
In the sitting room is a 55 inch smart Samsung TV which is connected to internet and satellite box. THIS APARTMENT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR PERSONS WITH MOBILITY ISSUES AS IT IS NECESSARY TO CLIMB 12 STEPS. THIS APARTMENT HAS ITS OWN EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE ENTRANCE, PORCH AND SANITISING MATERIAL WILL BE PLACED IN PORCH.

Peaceful, tranquil environment and almost a sanctuary, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Other things to note
Wifi available throughout the apartment, unfortunately not fibre but an excellent 4G signal which enables buffer free conference calls on two computers at the same time. Speed is circa 45 mbs. during day and can go down to 20 at nightime. I have a 5 node mesh system installed which ensures quality signal throughout house and apartment. Our service providers are wonderful communicators in the future tense, what they are going to do but alas its just like water. We are still waiting, it's only 900 m. away down the road but red tape takes time to get around. Frankly Eircom and other suppliers of fast broadband are dragging their feet and are interested only in large cities. All BBC, ITV, CNN, Sky News (+200 more) and Irish TV are available and cross channel radio services including Classic FM. A DVD is also installed on the system. There is a Bose sound system where you can play via Bluetooth any music. All modern German made appliances are installed, induction hob, cooker etc. It is peaceful here , well away from the road, only sounds are the birds early in the morning. THERE ARE SOME SPLENDID, UNRESTRICTED VIEWS FROM THE APARTMENT OVER TO MOUNT JULIET GOLF COURSE, HUNTERS YARD, CLUBHOUSE AND JERPOINT ABBEY ALL JUST 2KM. AWAY AS THE CROW FLIES. Further on there is forest covered Knockadrina and in the distance both the Commeragh mountains and Sliabh na Mban. On the other side , you can see Brandon Hill and the tail end of the Blackstairs range as well as Coppenagh Hill and Gap. THIS APARTMENT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR PERSONS WITH MOBILITY ISSUES AS IT IS NECESSARY TO CLIMB 12 STEPS. Regrettably we do not permit dogs or other pets.

Where you’ll be

Thomastown, Kilkenny, Ireland

We have lived and worked in the South East of Ireland all our lives ( except when in Middle East) and have comprehensive knowledge of the area, am now retired and willing to share same which would include places like for example Mount Juliet Golf Course and hotel which is adjoining the apartment, the entrance is 200 meters away and the house is a scenic 20 minutes walk away or one mile. (Please note that the Thomastown Gate for entrance to Moun t Juliet is currently closed due to Covid 19 restrictions, Mount Juliet is open and it entails of round trip of 5 Kms, to get in) Enniscorthy and Vinegar Hill, Wexford town, Kennedy Park, Dunbrody Famine ship experience, Waterford Crystal, Dunmore East fishing village, Passage East, Kilkenny City , Castle, Cathedral's. If you are into mountain trekking, Mount Leinster is 25 miles away and summit is 2610 feet high gives panoramic views of Wexford coastline round to Tramore in Co. Waterford. North you will see Carlow, Bagnalstown and west towards Goresbridge and Gowran. Another great mountain trek is to get dropped off near Ballymurphy (15 miles from Thomastown) and climb Blackstairs mountain (2411 feet) and walk along the top for about four miles down past a radio mast and through the forest towards Glynn village. This is a wonderful walk which I have done on a clear day many times. Only issue is you will need a drop off and pick up but its a delightful way to spend a day, top it off with a pint in Byrnes Pub, Glynn. For afternoon walks, you have Graiguenamanagh, walk the road to St. Mullins, have a coffee there and walk back by the river Barrow pathway it’s about 8 miles .
About 4 miles but a 5* scenic trip as is parking in Inistioge village and walking up to Woodstock Gardens and then on towards the Red House and back by the River Nore.. Thomastown where we live has visitor attractions which include Jerpoint Abbey and Mount Juliet golf course ( both can be viewed from apartment), Kilfane Glen Gardens. Kilkenny city is 11 miles away, a popular tourist destination has historic buildings such as Kilkenny Castle, St. Canice's Cathedral, Rothe House, Black Abbey and many more. Access by train is only 10 mins. walk away from the apartment.

Sheila here, I am retired from the nursing profession after 40 years service in the local hospital. I have lived, worked and reared my family in Thomastown since getting married to Michael. My hobbies included reading, listening to radio and podcasts when walking, keeping up to date with current affairs and visits to the theatre. My real passion is cooking which I can indulge in since retiring. I also travel extensively to far "flung places" with Michael who doesn't allow the grass to grow under my feet!!! Michael:- Retired Irish Police Officer who then followed a hobby as a photographer into the professional realms and had my own studio in Thomastown. Had a wonderful time as a professional photographer, met Clint Eastwood and many other famous people along the way. I photographed over 500 weddings and have many happy memories tucked away in negative form in a filing cabinet. This is now converted in the attached listing. I have lived in Jerusalem with my family during the 1970's and worked with UN. As a result love to travel back there and keep a keen interest in developments in that part of the world. In the past year (2013). Love cycling and have toured Ireland on an electric bicycle, lazy maybe but lovely when going uphill. Enjoy plays, classical music but also oldies from 50's and 60's. Reading with Kobo ereader and using the ipad and other gadgets floats my boat also! Love nothing better than getting up early in the morning, going for a 5 mile walk,and listening to some podcasts, news or music on earphones. Am really conservative as far as food goes, movies favourite is Circle of Friends as I recall it being made just five miles away in Inistioge. Our motto during life was always treat a person like you would like to be treated and remember " never criticise anyone until you have walked a mile in their shoes".
