I stayed at Dursey Cottage for 1 week and it was a great holiday in every respect. Rosarie was a brilliant host. The place was exactly as described and was clean and tidy. It would suit a couple or individual very nicely. Rosarie met me at the cable car on Dursey Island and went through everything. Dursey itself is impressive in its remoteness and isolation, an super location if you enjoy peace and quiet or need to focus for a few days on something in particular. I'll definitely be back to stay on Dursey Island again.

We were excited to find a place on Dursey island. Rosarie was very friendly and accommodating. She came and picked us up from the cable car, which was great because we had several bags and supplies for a few days. Unfortunately, Rosarie was back on the mainland so we didn't get a lift back. It's a 15-20 minute walk to the cable car with rolly luggage on gravel roads. The location of the cottage is spectacular, there is an amazing view over the bay. You can sit outside and watch the sea. It's very quiet, tranquil and idyllic. We enjoyed several glasses of wine, watching sheep and enjoying the quiet of rural Ireland. The cottage itself is small and cosy. It has the basic amenities and a lovely wood stove that keeps the cottage warm. If you're looking for luxury or modern, this is not the place for you. The house is basic, homey and feels like your gran's cottage. We had a great time.

Rosarie was very warm, welcoming & helpful & was very informative about the island and its fascinating history. We were a little anxious travelling with 2 young children being in such a remote location. However the whole family enjoyed our little adventure on Dursey island tremendously. The cottage was extremely comfortable, has everything you could possibly need & is a real cosy little home from home. The views from both the house & every part of the locality are just spectacular. The night sky was absolutely breath-taking. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip & hope to visit again sometime.

Dursey Cottage is excellent and has all that is needed to make our stay very comfortable for our week on Dursey with an excellent kitchen, bedroom and bathroom facilities. Rosarie, its owner and host was superb went the extra mile to ensure that we arrived safely and secure by liaising with local islanders and the cable car operator and that we were facilitated well including providing transport to and back from the cable car station. Rosarie kept in touch with us over the week providing valuable advice and an insight to Island life and ensuring all was OK and satisfactory which was very generous of her. The story behind Dursey Island Cottage is a fascinating story with the cottage the first building completed in many and many year. With building materials, including blocks, roofing etc transported by cable car a great tribute to endurance and can do attitude Island life is not for all and you need to be flexible, understanding and go with the flow but in return you are in harmony with nature, rural life amidst stunning scenery and landscape. Its a walkers paradise too and its a popular trek in the summer. We certainly enjoyed our stay on Dursey and will be back in 2016.
