The space

Welcome to our unique holiday home. Come and experience life in a working fishing harbour from the peace and comfort of our Grade 2 listed holiday home.

The house;

At Sharksfin you can relax and enjoy the bustle of Mevagissey from a very special perspective, seated on the balcony, drink in hand you can watch life carry on by below you. Feeling chilly, head in and put the kettle on, check your emails and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) on the PC and check out what is on the TV.

The house has 3 large and very comfortable bedrooms, a well equipped fully fitted kitchen Cooker, washing machine etc), and a large living room with massive TV. The apartment also has a large wrap around balcony where you can relax at the end of the day! Please see my photos for the apartment floor plan.

Please note it is a harbour side property and there will be an inevitable amount of damp in the air
There is a sofa bed in the lounge if you do want to squeeze a couple extra in but this won't be as comfy or private of course.

The local area;

The pretty Cornish town of Mevagissey retains a nostalgic feel that relaxes its visitors, and its working harbour and old fashioned buildings have the character of a traditional fishing town. Close to Fowey, A holiday here can be spent exploring narrow mazes of streets, sampling fresh fish restaurants and visiting quirky tourist shopsYou will be at the centre of this friendly area’s historic town, traditions and surrounding beauty. Sharksfin is so close to the beautiful harbour that you feel part of the village the moment you arrive in Mevagissey.

Perched above the harbour, the sights and sounds of gently bobbing boats, the cry of the gulls and the waves lapping the edge of the harbour can be heard from the balcony that overlooks the open sea beyond. The narrow, tiny lanes are lined with pretty cafes, gift and craft shops and local pubs that serve award winning ales and local food.

The sandy beaches and isolated coves dominate the coastline and provide a beautiful natural attraction. Many of the beaches in the immediate vicinity have interesting rock formations, the perfect excuse to go crabbing in the many rock pools.

Take the half hour ferry ride across the bay to Fowey with the possibility of spotting wildlife en route, or to fully appreciate the natural splendour of the area there is a virtually traffic free walking and cycling trail leading from Mevagissey to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The cycle trail can also be used to get to the village of Pentewan with its cosy pub and non-working harbour that has been transformed into a sanctuary for wildlife and large sandy beach.

South west of the village is the Roseland Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with golden sandy beaches, quaint villages, quiet lanes and coastal walks.

For visitors in search of stately homes and expansive estates and gardens to explore then this area of Cornwall is a haven for magnificent National Trust properties. Unbeatable location, amazing outlook over the harbour. Clean and spacious flat, stretching back from the harbour so bedrooms at the back were much quieter. Perfect for our 3 generation family break. Would definitely recommend

A very nice location and great sized apartment. It is much better suited for people staying longer term, but still very enjoyable and close to all the pubs and resteraunts, with a great view and good amenities.

This must be the top location on the lovely town of Mevagissey. The apartment is spacious and clean with all facilities available. The local. people are friendly and helpful We had lovely meals at the nearby Fountain and the Wheelhouse on the harbour. The Ship Inn is a locals hangout and is a 'proper' pub. Cannot fault the apartment, the local people, the shops, bars and restaurants or Mark and Clair's hospitality. A truly wonderful experience.

What a fabulous place too relax and enjoy the view. We stayed for 4 nights but could have stayed longer. It rained every day, but it really didn't matter there is so much to do close by. The apartment is warm and has everything you would need to escape and just enjoy a different pace of life.
