Situated on a working 840 acre Cattle and Sugarcane property this charming farm house is the perfect country getaway. Located on the banks of the Mary River you have private access to all the property has to offer from fishing, walking trails, wildlife spotting and bush walks. Great for those who want to get away from it all and enjoy the outdoors. Centrally located for all the region has to offer whilst giving you a true farm stay experience.

The space
The 'Brick House' is a peaceful and relaxing farm house with 360 views of the mountains, the Mary River, sugar cane fields and bush. The house is spacious and great for families and couples.

Wake up to breath taking views and a morning cup of coffee on the front veranda. Then later enjoy a BBQ on the back deck overlooking the river. All the bedrooms have great views and there is a large family bathroom, and an extra shower, toilet and utility. The spacious lounge/dining area is the centre of the house and a rustic farm kitchen has all the amenities you will require to enjoy your stay. When you’re not exploring the farm and river why not make the most of the large garden. Alternatively just put your feet up to good a DVD, book or board game. At night chill around an outdoor camp fire area (fire ban depending!), relax on the deck or for a night off cooking try the local historic Pub.

Various walking trails are available around the farm and you have private access to the river be it for fishing, kayaking, wildlife spotting or just to sit and enjoy a picnic on the bank. Visit the 'Rocks' a beautiful spot over looking the river and keep an eye out for the endangered Mary river turtle and lung fish or if you’re really lucky a Platypus!

When we are not working on the farm we would be more than happy to tell you about our crops and cattle and if we are available you can arrange to come and feed and pet our goats, sheep, chickens and horses at the main farm house. Also you have a chicken run at 'The Brick House' and 'Dixie & Shelby' will be on holiday with you too!

We are a great base for days out as we are centrally located to so much! For the beach head to Rainbow or Noosa. Enjoy a train ride on the Historic Gympie Rattler and search for gold at the Gold Mine Museum in Gympie. Maryborough is a great day out for cafe's, museums and all things Mary Poppins! Head out west towards Goomeri for a country drive and stop in at the fabulous bakery or at one of the wineries. The hinterland of Maleny and Monteville are well worth a visit and try the cheese and ice cream at Kenilworth dairies.

There just so much to enjoy! :)

The house area is fenced and we do ask that 'Farm Rules' are adhered to when out on the farm and around the river/dams for your safety and ours as we are a working farm. These are also listed in the kitchen. Access to our other Airbnb property, a small 1 bed cottage does share your driveway in front of the house and we will let you know if it is occupied on your arrival. However your privacy is maintained as they are some distance from you with a seperate garden and you really feel like you've got the farm to yourself. Please respect other guests privacy and peace whilst on farm. Occasionally when moving the cattle there can be noise - the odd moo! or the odd tractor if we are working on your side of the farm.

Please don't ask to bring dogs as we cannot accomodate any pets due to our livestock.

Other things to note
Please Note before booking:To adhere to the current Covid 19 regulations for Qld. If you have you been in contact with anyone who is infected in last 14 days or if you are ill please notify us ASAP. We are essential primary producers and need to keep healthy so we appreciate all your support.

It is advisable to bring drinking water as we are on tank water. There is a water purifier in the house and we will endeavour to provide water in the fridge. We are approached by a dirt road which just adds to that get away from it all feeling!

As mentioned there is a fire pit for use except when we are in a fire ban which we will notify you of or if it’s too dry and windy please don’t light the fire. Wood and kindling is available on request at $15 a bag. You are welcome to bring your own. However Please do not source any wood on farm without prior permission as it is there for a reason, sometimes to maintain a wildlife habitat or for our own uses.

My husband Tom and I welcome you to our farm Gundaroo. Originally farmers from the UK we made the move to Queensland and have not looked back! We look forward to meeting you and sharing this beautiful place!
During your stay
We will pop by to welcome you on arrival. We live on the other side of the farm property over a cane field and will be available if we are on farm should you need us. However as a working farm you will see us about in the yards, working in the paddocks or checking or mustering our cattle. We will stop and be happy to chat if we can.
