The Twin Oak is our second of three vacation rentals , and is identical to and just past our Big Pine cabin. The Twin Oak is more secluded, with a short but steep driveway. Couples often prefer this cabin because it is more hidden at the end of the road. Because of the driveway, guests pulling any type of trailer prefer our Big Pine or Scatter Ridge Retreat cabins, if either are available. If the Twin Oak is selected, a trailer can be parked behind the cabin or at the top of the driveway.

The space
How often do you find a cabin bordering a nearly 2,000 acre state park, with beautiful hardwoods and well-marked trails for hiking or mountain biking? Just 3 miles down the road are more trails, plus a 200 acre lake for swimming, boating, and fishing.

So many recreation opportunities are available for hikers, bikers, hunters, boaters, swimmers, and fishermen. But if you choose to never leave the cabin, enjoying yourself grilling, watching movies, or sitting around a campfire.

If supplies are needed, the city of Athens is less than 15 minutes away, with unique shopping opportunities, eclectic museums, and one-of-a-kind restaurants who emphasize using local ingredients in their offerings.

Guest access
Guests can access hiking trails right from the cabin, or drive about 3 miles down to the lake for many more outdoor activities. There should be no exploring or hunting on the property. Maps, directions, and information regarding trails, boat rentals, swimming, restaurants, shopping, etc. are all provided at the cabin.

Location

Athens, Ohio, United States

Our cabin locations are unique because they are surrounded by woods, yet close to the city of Athens, and Ohio University. In addition, bordering a state park for many outdoor recreational activities is an added bonus! Hiking, biking, swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities are available just outside your cabin's front door or a five minute drive away!

Check out www.athensohio.com for things to do and see (and eat and drink!) in our area, such as Brew Week, Boogie on the Bricks, and Paw Paw Fest, just to name a few.
The Uptown area and outskirts have terrific restaurants, breweries, and wineries, and eclectic places to shop with locally created wares. Being part of a college town means there are always bands to hear, sporting events to watch, and exhibits to view, too.

My decision to leave the flatlands of Northwest Ohio to attend Ohio University, in the fall of 1983, has lead to my family life and cabin business in Athens County. When communicating with me, you will learn why I chose to remain in this area after college graduation, and will have great insight on the places to visit and things to do in the area. Oh, and meals to eat! Having served on the board of the Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau, I am eager to share with you what makes our area unique. You can stop down at the Boathouse at Strouds Run in the Spring, Summer, or Fall, to meet me or another family member, and get a discount on a boat rental! Many of our cabin guests visit annually or even more often, and become like family. We look forward to meeting you!

During your stay
Myself or a family member are always available to you—from the very start of the reservation process, to checkout and after. We are available via phone, email, or text most hours of the day.

While we hope to meet all of our guests, we will not show up at the cabin without checking first with you. Another option is meeting you down at the lake, where we rent a variety of boats and manage the park concessions (like ice cream novelties and nightcrawlers!) Spring, Summer, and Fall. Stop down to say HI!
