Rural idyll: original 1930/40s deco-glam guest-suite nestled under open-beams, with modern creature comforts, & breathtaking vistas from balcony. Original marble and stone finished bathroom adds nostalgic charm.
Excellent motor/bus/rail access.
The location is near to Giro D'italia route,FVG's AlpeAdria cycling path from Austria to the Adriatic, & Slovenia & Gourmet dining. You’ll love us because of the unbelievably lovely views, the ambiance, the outdoors space, the light, the excellent beds!

The space

Imagine taking a step back in time, to a slower-paced life. You wake up to the sound of bird-song or church bells, or perhaps a distant rooster crowing, in a charming, romantic bedroom furnished with authentic 1930s or 40s solid walnut furniture, giving a nostalgic glamour to the accommodation. (However, the bed base and mattress are extremely recent and comfortable for solid postural support, and a sound sleep). Perfect when followed by an early morning walk around the gently rolling hills, and a leisurely breakfast which is included in your stay.

The 1st and 2nd floor rooms are complimented by your own private balconies with table and chairs overlooking peaceful views of the surrounding vineyards and the Alps to the north. A perfect place to enjoy your breakfast, a coffee, some reflection, painting, or even writing with an aperitif at sunset. The choice is yours...

Such a lovely place, the Area is so pretty and you can see the Alps from the balcony. The rooms are very Boutique chic, lovely clean bathrooms. Excellent tea/coffee facilities and you there is a microwave and toaster and mini fridge, so you can have all you want to hand. The place is in an excellent spot as it is so near so many places to visit, We went to Trieste, Slovenia, Grado, we even got the train to (URL HIDDEN) opens up so many places to see which you wouldn't usually visit. Such a lovely area, well worth a visit. Ara Grande is a charming village with beautiful Mediterranean style buildings and gorgeous backdrops to explore on foot or by bike. Bike hire is cheap and located nearby! Tricesimo provides a wide array of bars and restaurants for the evening. The Alps are only 45 mins drive away providing stunning walks and adventure activities in both Italy and Slovenia (Bovec). The gem in the crown of the region is it's wine. I sampled some of the best reds and whites of my life, each one produced locally. memorable experience with a taste of the joy of Italian life.

Spettacolare! Eleanor consistently went above and beyond to provide an experience that was inviting, interesting and magical from start to finish. The house is stunning; set over three floors each with its own balcony with seating that provides a breathtaking view of the Alps in the distance. Everything was immaculately clean and comfortable. No detail was overlooked: fans and deet vaporisers in every room, tea and coffee facilities and a bathroom on every floor. Eleanor's living room is a celebration of culture and charm; with carved wood furniture, books, porcelain tea sets and curios, each with a story that she tells with joy and intrigue. Her true love, however, is clearly embodied in her kitchen. An ode to the art of cooking, it has been designed to perfection to allow her to impart her vast knowledge onto anyone who wishes to learn. An enormous kitchen island provides the centrepiece to an array of cooking and preparation stations. Any foodie amongst you will not be disappointed! Breakfast was provided every day, each day delivering something different. We sampled local tomatoes and olives, feta, pineapple, espresso, tamarind earl grey tea, many kinds of breads, and even some grapes picked straight from the vine of her home! There is no shortage of things to do or places to explore. Again in this regard, Eleanor is a font of knowledge, providing guidance to where to get the best of each kind of food and wines. In summary, this has been a truly memorable experience and I would wholeheartedly recommend staying with Eleanor for a taste of the joy of Italian life.

My second visit to Eleanor's, this time in high summer. We hired bikes and explored the neighbouring hill top villages, making our way to cool off in the river at picturesque Nissimo......lovely! Once again we enjoyed the delicious local franciacorta bubbly - far better than prosecco in my view. The area has some fabulous Osteria with both casual and fine dining. Proximity to gorgeous villages like San Daniele for fabulous ham and also to Slovenia is a real bonus. Lots to enjoy !

I had a fantastic time at Eleanor's place. The house is beautiful, and the view of the Julian Alps from the balcony is phenomenal. Eleanor's knowledge of the surrounding area is extensive, and she gave me directions both to a beautiful mountain area and a great Slovenian restaurant just over the border. I went on a bicycle ride around the area and the views were great. Eleanor was very welcoming and friendly - she made me feel right at home. Such a lovely area and a great host.

Eleanor's house is a little hidden gem in a beautiful region. The room is comfortable and nicely decorated. Personal bath robes and fleece blankets are a nice touch and provide welcome warmth when the morning air is still a bit chilly during breakfast out on the terrace. We woke up to fresh crumpets one morning, and pumpkin muffins the next. Eleanor is a lovely hostess, and very knowledgeable about the local area. She's happy to share information, or take you along on a personal discovery tour. We hope to enjoy another stay soon!

Wonderful stay again - we came in Summer and couldn't wait to return to Udine. Room just like the pictures - comfy bed with warm winter doona (room is up some stairs), clean bathroom, view from the balcony, and coffee and the homemade bread for breakfast. Lovely quaint area - Elanor picked us up from the bus stop nearby. She was free the weekend we were in town and we went on a one day Tasting Traditions experience up into the Alps. Was an incredible, we felt like we had a real insight into northern italy for the day. Loved Flavio at the cafe up the hills who gave us four different types of salumi and cheese - with a local wine to match each round! Definitely an experience I'll remember.
