Macken's Farmhouse is a traditional Irish farmhouse with seaside views located on the Skellig Ring and Wild Atlantic Way.

The space
The original farmhouse was built in 1885 and was a single storey thatch cottage, with outbuildings for the farm animals. The thatch roof was taken off in the 1950's and the house was raised to 2 storeys with the same stone walls as the original. The roof was clad with slates from the nearby quarry on Valentia Island.

Where you’ll be

Portmagee, Kerry, Ireland

Our cottages and farmhouses are located on the world famous Wild Atlantic Way! We are only 4 kilometers from Bray Head which is 1 of 15 signature discovery points on the entire 2,500 kilometer route which goes from Donegal to Cork. There are also numerous discovery points in the locality; we recommend that people download the Wild Atlantic Way app for further information.
Our properties are located just 3 kilometers from the charming fishing village of Portmagee. Portmagee is located in the South West of Ireland in the beautiful county of Kerry. Macken’s farmhouse is directly across the main road from the sea and has a view across to Valentia Island. It is on a working farm. We have two moorings below our seaside cottages in case you wish to bring your boat!

My work: Portmagee Seaside Cottages
Lives in Portmagee, Ireland
Portmagee Seaside Cottages is a family run business. The family is made up of Elizabeth and James and our children Paul (living and working in London and New York), Aisling (living and working in Australia) and Roisin (living and working in Cork). We also have a farm with pedigree Charolais cows and ducks. We have very good local knowledge of all that is going on, we can recommend nice places to visit and know all the local boat and activity operators. In our spare time (which can be limited!) we are avid walkers. We would be happy to advise our guests on walking routes in the locality and time permitting might also be available to lead our guests on a walk.
