Stay Safe in this sterilized, isolated Space. We make sure to sanitize every surface and wash everything between guests. There will be no interactions with anyone living here. You are private. This space is a cozy, eco-friendly stone hut located on a sustainable homestead just outside of the city of Ferndale. The space is tiny, only 8 x 12 plus a cozy sleeping loft (WARNING: difficult to access). It is a showcase for tiny home living and Includes use of Amazing Sauna and bath. Pets ok.

The space
WARNING - this tiny home has loft with a unique spiral staircase which can be a challenge for kids, elderly or disabled to climb. Therefore you must be able to climb (I would say it is about as hard as a ladder).

This space includes private use of sauna and bath built into an antique horse trailer. an amazing experience!!

This space is right next to the Nooksack River, about a 10 min drive from the ocean (ask directions to beach with sunset views) and just down the road from the Silver Reef Casino.

This space is heated with an efficient in floor heating system and has a simple composting toilet (essentially an outhouse). You simply add a scoop of sawdust every time you use it and it smells only slightly (vented).

The roof is clear and provides beautiful light which allows a lot of plants to be growing inside.

In addition to the sauna, The space also includes use of a beautiful bath house with a bath and shower that is made from stone as well. Bath house is not heated but is used year round and has a roof.

You are also welcome to light a fire outside, we supply fire wood and the fire pit is near.

Here is a list of some of the unique building techniques that are feature in this home and that will have write-up on so you can learn how I did everything:

1) Front facade using free counter top materials, free stones and built with low cost labor.
2) Down the entire side of the hut is a polyurethane cedar counter. It was made from a $100 slab and all diy.
3) This spaces uses a unique in floor heating system that is heats water via propane. ! small heater provides all the water for the sink and the heating. System cost under $200.
4) the floor in concrete with all free material and exposed aggregate for the stone look.
5) The outside area is partially covered with a recycled (free) sail that also includes water catchment.
6) The staircase to the loft is made from driftwood.
7) The interior wall coverings are all free materials.
8) 2 of the exterior walls are covered with stucco made from free materials (including silt from on site) and offering good durability.
9) The roof is entirely clear but also provides good insulation with 2 layers. The natural light is beautiful and you can partially see the stars at night.
10) The toilet is fully composting and is basically an above ground outhouse that is very ecofriendly, produced usable compost, and in no way could ever leach into ground water.

The hut is located on 1 acre and you are encouraged to look around. We have a nursery that focuses on berries and small fruit, including a 1000 sq. ft. 4 season greenhouse. We have friendly cats. Me and my family live in the main house on the other side of the property and there are 3 other small spaces that are rented out.

Where you’ll be

Whatcom County, Washington, United States

We are close to the city of Ferndale for dinner and events, very close to the Silver Reef Casino (just down the road) for gambling, dinner (award winning steak house) or SPA. We are also a short distance to beautiful beaches (Sandy Point, Cherry point, ect.) and the Nooksack River is across the road (although river access isn't great on this side of the river, best to go to Hovander Park or Vanderveer Park nearby)
