An Mowhay; a 200 year old converted barn deep within the farming community of west Cornwall and five miles west of Penzance. Well equipped, sleeping four (best for two adults and two children), beautiful beaches, art galleries, quaint pubs, restaurants. Dog friendly.

The space

An Mowhay consists of an open plan first floor sitting room with kitchen-diner attached. Downstairs are two bedrooms each with a king-size bed. Note that the second bedroom is small, with a very wide in-built captain's bed. While it can accommodate two adults, the size of the room is most suited to two children. Downstairs, there is also a small shower room with sink and toilet. Outside there is a large garden. The cottage is situated in the small hamlet of Brane, where there is a working farm and a few other cottages. We also offer coaching retreats.

Guest access

The accommodation is equipped with full kitchenware, bedding, towels, TV and DVD, games and books. There is access to a washing machine on request. There is a range of beach equipment, maps, books and information about local attractions. Note that Wifi available in an adjoining barn building and on the patio, but not inside the cottage

Very secluded and peaceful in the countryside 15 mins thru quaint country lanes to Penzance. Cosy wee place when we lit a fire!

+ quiet hamlet, nice cottage lay-out, amenities in the kitchen, good sized bedrooms and beds, nice outdoor space, friendly host, good access to different places to visit - poor wifi signal (need to go outside), house needs a bit of tlc at the edges Overall: good value for money, we really enjoyed our stay there.

Simon was a disappointing host. The oven and microwave was disgusting and had not been cleaned for some time. It took him a while to clean the latter which means it had not been done for some time. When we asked Simon for some extra logs on arrival his reply was to buy them at the garage. We had had a long journey and it felt very unwelcoming considering the cottage is on a farm surrounded by wood. We were supplied with exactly 5 dishwasher tablets and only one bin bag when we asked for more he grudgingly supplied a few extra. The bathroom is grubby with a gaping hole behind the toilet in which two resident Beatles emerged. The outside shower base had been patched up by a dirty looking white tape. The TV monitor was sticky and all the numbers had been rubbed off therefore making it difficult to operate. The TV was very small. I had arranged to pay extra for my friend to stay and he kept pestering me for the money and then disappeared for the rest of our stay without a word or contact number. While we were on own the kitchen sink block up and we had to sort it out.

Simon was a great host with excellent communication. Exactly what we were after. Beautiful well kept cottage, with all the facilities required for a comfy stay. Good location to drive a short distance to lots of stunning beaches.

We had just a few days away but really felt home from home. Really relaxing and Simon was great at providing everything we needed whilst we were also able to feel completely like it was our own little house for our time there. Highly recommended! Will be staying there again in future!
