The space
COVID19 - we have put a 2 day space in between guests to allow for a deep clean.
The cottage is located on the one side of our house, and built almost entirely by Juberth and some local builders.
It is constructed using adobe bricks, and is well insulated. There are some eco building features, including some glass bottle bricks to let in extra light, recycled door frames, and locally made windows.
The flooring is artesinal ceramic terracota style tiles, and the grey water supplies trees in front of the cottage.
You have your own lounge, kitchen, bathroom and comfortable bedroom, with an additional mezzanine space for lounging.
Views from the windows onto Pitusiray peak and the Sacred Valley are simply amazing! The house is situated on a 2000 square metre property.
At the back of the house is a barbecue ,an adobe oven, which you are welcome to use.
In front of the house we have a bench where you can sit and enjoy the view, the sun setting on the Pitusiray Peak in front of you, and have a fire in the fire pit.
We have a separate laundry area, with washing machine, washing detergent, which you are welcome to use. There is no dryer, but we have a covered hanging area to dry clothes.
Our 2 herb gardens are located next to the barbecue and in front of the cottage, and you can help yourself to what we have in growing.

Where you’ll be

Calca, Cuzco, Peru

Huaran is such a lovely little village, filled with a mix of locals and foreigners. We have a few little shops with the basics available, and easy access to public transport to Urubamba or Calca for the closest markets. There are great walks around our village and in the whole Valley. One popular walk in Huaran is to the waterfall in Arin, it is a relatively easy walk, taking about 1 hour, finishing at the waterfall, which is a magical place to sit and have a view down into the valley. I have more details on all the walks in the guide I print.
Groceries - 2 little shops on the main road, about 50 metres from the turn off with the signs for the Greenhouse BnB, the shops stock bread, milk, wine, butter, fruit and vegetables, tinned goods, shampoo, etc.
Restaurants - Viva Peru Cafe - lovely spot for lunch, or a coffee, they have wifi, and are open from 11 - 4 pm, Monday to Saturday. The Greenhouse BnB does dinner for its guests, and if you enquire, you can make a reservation for dinner. There is another new hotel down the road, IFK, that has a gourmet restaurant. In Urubamba there are a lot of restaurant options. You can have a look at the social media accounts of Viva Peru Cafe, Greenhouse Bnb, and Carmen Murray Peru to have an idea of the area.

Carmen and Juberth have lived in this house in Huaran for 7 years. Carmen is from South Africa, and Juberth is Peruvian, they have both travelled and worked all over the world. Juberths background is hospitality, and Carmens is nursing, now both have turned towards pursuits that involve creating and making, working in the garden, building furniture or printing on fabric. We are lucky to have the space available to be able to invite people to share the wonderful environment of where we live in the heart of the Sacred Valley. We love sunday market days in Urubamba, hiking with our dogs, making food, and being in the garden.

During your stay

We live separately in our house, and are generally working in the mornings,at Viva Peru Cafe, a construction project or around the house, and are available for any advice about the area. Some days we are around the house a lot,and other days we have projects that take us out. I have compiled a guide to the surrounding area with includes maps, and have a printed copy available when you arrive, and try to include information on most things in the valley.
