The space

No 46 Prague is a striking, discreet and privately-owned apartment superbly located in Vinohrady, Prague 2, a ten minutes stroll from the city centre's Wenceslas Square. Joanna an interior designer and James an interior photographer, have travelled extensively around the world. The 19th century apartment has been designed to match what they believe people want with maximum comfort, absolute peace, creative inspiration and absolute attention to detail.
No. 46 is a hybrid of styles, fusing old world antiques and luxurious furnishings with contemporary kitchen and state-of-the art bathroom design. The interior offers elegance and stimulation, from the rustic heirlooms to the giant photographs of the stunningly beautiful city of Prague adorning its walls. No. 46 offers an outstanding base for exploring one of the most beautiful cities in the world and we love to visit and use No 46 as a place of calm to come and relax, eat in good restaurants and sample fine wines.

We supply all that you will need for your stay at No 46 - Egyptian cotton sheets, duck down duvets, fluffy towels, L'Occitane bath products, a great stereo system with piped music to the bathroom, surround sound, DVD's, C.D's, iPod Dock, Free Wifi, Flat screen TV, a seriously good kitchen fit for a chef, seating and cutlery for 6, lots of coffee table books and the latest glossy magazine, many plants and dried flowers, much info on the local area and downtown in our highly recommended 'black book'.

The neighbourhood

Vinohrady is one of the most elegant residential neighbourhoods in Prague. During the 19th century, the landscape was covered in rose gardens, orchards and vineyards (vinohrady) running down the gentle slope towards the River Vltava and the centre of Prague. Vinohrady is now one of the most stylish districts in the city, its broad tree-lined boulevards and colourful squares offering an exceptional array of architectural styles from Neo-Renaissance and Art Nouveau to Pseudo Baroque and Neo-Gothic. Within these doors are to be found some of the hippest and exciting cafes, bars, restaurants and clubs in Europe. The district’s charming Riegrovy-sady and Havlíčkovy-sady parks provide a very pleasant relief from the sometimes maddening crowds of the centre. One could quite happily while away a few days just hanging out in Vinorady alone although of course, that would be missing the bigger picture.

Getting around

The city centre is extremely easy to reach either three metro stops on the A-line or two subway stations on Tram 11, or just an undemanding ten minute stroll through some of the most spectacular streetscapes of Prague.

Other things to note

There is one flight of steps to reach the doors of No 46.
No 46 has some of Prague's best restaurants right on its doorsteps.
It is a quiet area away from the traffic and maddening crowds of the centre - yet just up the hill and so close to the centre, all in all its one of the best districts of Prague.

James was an excellent host. He was very accommodating, helpful and quick to respond when I was making the booking and when I had a question at the end of our stay. The apartment is simply gorgeous and looks exactly like the pictures. It's full of character, old world charm yet has updated bath and kitchen. It has attention to detail and personality that one cannot find in a hotel. I ended up being sick with a cold and had to stay inside during much of our stay there so this apartment was a comfortable and stylish refuge while I recovered from my cold.

We had a terrific time at James' beautiful apartment, which looks just like the pictures. It is stylish without being impersonal, and made us feel instantly relaxed and at home. The picturesque neighborhood was a short walk to the Old Town, and a perfect refuge from the crowds of tourists in the city centre. We had a blast shopping at the nearby farmers market, speciality Greek and Italian shops, and wine stores just steps from the apartment and cooking in James' big, open kitchen well-stocked with all the necessities. Our entry was seamless, and James arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the airport. His book of recommendations in Prague and the neighborhood were very much appreciated.

I am a photographer based in Ireland, but who travels quite a bit. Joanna is a designer and supurb chef, where she heads the restaurant that is situated in our beautiful home in Ireland called Burtown House. It is surrounded by 12 acres of lush flowers, woodland and vegetable gardens, a sculpture park and many fields of wild flowers. We are passionate about what we eat and where it has come from (normally our garden) which supplies our restaurant. Our house in Ireland is one one of the few houses in Ireland to be still lived in by the family that built it. You can find more on the web - or (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN).
We use No 46 as a place to escape, read, chill, socialise, get some city action, and spoil ourselves with fine food and wine. It is a gem of a city and we love it.
