This hexagon hut is situated on its own on land that is half orchard half woodland, 5 Km from Westport. It gives a nice view over the natural environment with wild life and low key farming. A few goats and a few hens roam in the adjoining field.

The space

The hexagon shaped cabin has decking on both sides to enjoy morning sun as well as evening sun. On the morning sun side, where the door is, the decking leads to the little bathroom building. The cuckoo is around from the end of April until the end of May. The Owenwee river with salmon and trout runs on about 200 Meter distance. Westport town is on 5 Km distance. Clew bay 2 Km . Nearest beach 7 Km.

There is a nice and safe place to park the car at the bottom of the path leading to the cabin.
Guests are free to roam the one third of an acre around the hut. There are beautiful walks around without having to use the car. One of the few native woods left is only 1,5 Km away.
From 1 April till 1 October I don't take bookings for less than 3 nights

The neighbourhood of this place is extremely friendly and there is a big sense of community here.

Public transport, busses and trains, is available in Westport. There is a safe opportunity to cycle to town.

Westport town has great entertainment possibilities. Lots of traditional music, also good blue grass and jazz. Many coffee shops and restaurants and indeed a great choice of very interesting and unique shops.

This place is idilic! It's serene and peaceful and so much more than we expected! Lovely little touches by Irma. Lots to do as just 6 mins from Westport centre. Idea location. Idea settings. Loved it, will absolutely go back. Great value!

We really enjoyed our stay in the treehouse. It is so peaceful there. Irma is so welcoming and we really enjoyed the fresh homemade bread and eggs she left out for us. Our 10 month old daughter really enjoyed the goats, hens and kittens. We love hiking so we were delighted to get great weather. We hiked up to the top of Croagh Patrick and also did a lovely loop walk down the road from the treehouse. The roads are so quite and everyone we seen was so friendly. The treehouse is very private with lovely views of the mountains. The fire made it so cosy and there was loads of supplys to cook with. Irma was tought of everything. I really loved her personal touchs of fresh flowers and i loved her decor. There is even a hot water bottle there although we didn't need it as it was so cosy. We were celebrating our two year wedding anniversary and we couldn't of picked a better place. It reminded us so much of were we got married in Ballybeg House Co.Wicklow. We will treasure the memories we made there. Thanks again Irma.

We had a fantastic few nights at the Cuckoo Wood Hexagon. It's a lovely place, very relaxing. Irma was a great host leaving us lovely homemade bread, free range eggs from her own hens, organic milk and many other bits. She lit the fire for us and was very accommodating. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay! There are two gas rings to cook on, a fridge, and a lovely wood burning stove to heat the hexagon. Highly recommended - now just to book for next year!

This is lovely peaceful place and if you get the weather it could be a little piece of heaven. The only thing to note is that there is no oven, just a 2 ring gas hob and a microwave grill so if you like to cook and are looking to dine at home in the evenings the amenities are limited. In bad weather the bathroom situated away from the main building is challenging. That being said the countryside is beautiful, it's pet friendly. Our parrots and dog had a great time. There are 2 beautiful cats that visit regularly too.

I am a happy person. I am retired, but extremely busy with all the things I love: minding my animals and garden, studying, playing music and painting.
