Interaction with guests
Our guests don't have to see us as they will be totally separate from the main house, but we are always willing to have a chat if they should require it or share a cup of coffee or glass of wine.
Other things to note
Greyton is the right place for cyclists and hikers as we have some of the best routes in South Africa.
The security alarm must be used - to protect my own possessions and that of the guests. Greyton is not a town with violent crime, but the community is poor and guesthouses are targets for stealing. We didn't have any problems up to date at Marina Cottage, and that is the way I want to keep it : a safe place for my guests and no loss of anything. NB ! This cottage is not suitable for the elderly or people with knee, hip or back problems. There are 10 stairs that you have to climb to the bedroom from the kitchen, dining and lounge area.
We are a retired couple who moved from Stellenbosch to Greyton about 5 months ago. We decided to keep busy and have new interests, we will renovate the guest cottage and rent it out. We are quiet, love Greyton, music and reading. We travel quite often to Namibia where two of our children and their families live. We won't interfere in any way with our guests unless they need something - even a little chat is okay. We are in no way judgmental and are used to noisy young people (in fact, we love to hear people enjoying themselves!) If you stay at our cottage, you don't have to be quiet. We want you to enjoy your stay and enjoy Greyton.
