This is a unique residence, designed by a leading architect, with everything you might need for a relaxing holiday, only 17 miles from Belfast Int'l airport. The house is rebuilt in natural stone with amazing views over lakes and mountains.

The space

Combining the old and the new, this barn complex, newly rebuilt in natural stone has panoramic views of Lough Beg, the Bann valley, the Sperrin mountains, and Lough Neagh. A perfect rural retreat with the comfort of modern design and high speed wifi

This recently converted barn is in a peaceful rural setting, only 17 miles by car from Belfast Int'l airport and 28 miles from the Belfast ferry terminals. The Giant's Causeway, the Antrim coast and Glens, with their long sandy beaches, are only 45 minutes away. Groceries, restaurants and bars are 3 miles away in Portglenone. Boating, sailing, canoeing, fishing, coastal walks and golf, and more, are all available within a few miles. Seamus Heaney, the famous poet, was born and lived nearby. For larger shopping and city experiences Ballymena is 7 miles away; Belfast 28 miles; Derry/ Londonderry 40 miles. Even Dublin is accessible within 2 and a half hour's driving, or by rail link from Ballymena and Belfast.

The space comprises a new kitchen with cooker and microwave, large living area and loft with marvellous views over Lough Beg and the Sperrin Mts. The barn sleeps 2 in the loft with sleeping for 2 more on a large sofa bed in the living area below.

A modern living room with full- height glass gable- end overlooking the Bann river valley, with tiled underfloor heating, sleeping loft, and bathroom. Hi-speed wifi (65 Mbs/sec).
Separate kitchen and dining room with hot water on-demand. A private outdoor patio. Access to gardens and private car parking.

Support is available as required, but the emphasis is on providing pleasant accommodation in a private retreat with contact only when required.
We will provide telephone numbers in case you need assistance of any kind.

A peaceful and tranquil site set among fields and open farmland with great views, comfort and relaxation.
Tourist, outdoor and sporting amenities are a short drive away: when, and if, you want them.
However, the landscape is what attracts most people to Northern Ireland. From this location everything is within reach. Lough Beg (4 miles ) is renowned for its bird life.
For rainy days the Game of Thrones and Titanic Exhibitions in Belfast are easily accessible (40 miles).

A car is strongly recommended. Though civilisation is close by, no public transport operates in this locality. However there are local taxi services for airport pick-ups and shorter journeys which link into the public transport services.
The barn has it's own private car park which accommodates two large vehicles.

Access to the adjacent kitchen and dining area is from a separate entrance. Tea and coffee- making facilities and a small fridge are also provided in the living area for additional convenience.
Bed linen and towels are provided.

Guest access

Guests are free to use the gardens around the barn and house. The gates by the road can be closed to provide peace of mind if children are at play.

Interaction with guests

We are available by phone or in person if you have anything you wish to discuss about your visit.

Other things to note

We have ethernet points for lap top users as well as wifi.

We provide a drying rack in the boiler house if guests need to dry clothes quickly. Please do not hang clothes on the lighting strip in the living room as this may damage the cable and become dangerous.

We had a wonderful three nights in Gerry and Tricia's cottage. Gerry and Tricia were away when we arrived, but Gerry was fantastic in facilitating our arrival and we were very warmly welcomed by Gerry's sister, Inez. The cottage was a great place for us to reacquaint ourselves with the area, including Belfast and the giants' causeway. It's also a great place for a relaxing break, with fantastic views of the rolling hills and lakes. Highly recommended!

This little house in Northern Ireland's countryside is the perfect combination of comfort and beauty. The huge window opening to the beautiful views of the valley and the two lakes bring all of nature inside, and the hosts paid attention to every detail to make it the coziest accommodation you could hope for - so much that you literally wonder if there's any point going out of the house at all. We loved our stay at Gerard's house and the only regret is that it was so short - only 2 nights. We'll definitely be back to make up for that.

We were met at a time that suited us. A beautiful apartment with fantastic views. Most importantly very warm and constant hot water. Wi-fi was excellent. Can only highly recommend a stay.

We had a fantastic time at the Barn on our recent stay. The photos really do not do this place justice, it was a fantastically finished building. Gerard and his sister Inez had the heating on and the place was extremely neat and tidy. There was a box containing menus from local restraunts and cafes as well as advise on things to do in the local area.
