Step back in time and experience something very unique: A traditional bow top gypsy caravan set in a woodland in the Donegal hills totally off the beaten track. Lovingly restored to a high standard you feel cosy and snug in the midst of nature.

The space
You will find an old horse drawn gypsy wagon which is now set set on a meadow under mature trees. We are a farm producing our own veg and herbs in surrounding gardens. It is a very quiet and peaceful location with streams, lakes and forests all around in the hills of Donegal.
The caravan will sleep a family of four: 2 adults and 2 children with two small double beds. The adult bed on top is 6.1 foot (about 1.86m) long, the one below is shorter, about 5 foot long.
The caravan is very well insulated and has modern amenities like running water, cooker, fridge, kettle and toaster and can be heated with a modern wall-mounted electric heater with timer which makes it always warm and cosy whatever the weather.

Guest access
You will find a nice selection of board-games and books (also for the Little ones) in the gypsy wagon for the rainy days.
There is no toilet or shower in the gypsy wagon itself but there are bathroom facilities with shower and toilets only a few steps away.
On request we will provide a breakfast basket delivered to to the wagon in the morning. Price is 15 EUR for 2 people.
You also have access to all the gardens with relaxing places to enjoy nature.
Theres is a place for a campfire in the garden. (Guests will have to provide their own wood).

Other things to note
We provide you with breakfast and evening meals on request. Rates are: 8 EUR per person for breakfast, 12.50 EUR for a freshly made vegetarian dish in the evening and 15 EUR for a dish including meat (chicken or fish). We always try to cook seasonal with the freshest produce coming straight from our garden.

Location

Fintown, Donegal, Ireland

We live about 5km outside the village of Fintown and are linked via a mountainous back-road to the picturesque town of Glenties (half an hour drive). We are surrounded by forests, lakes, streams and rivers on the foot of Aghla mountain. We are located right beside a waymarked walking way called "The Gaeltacht/Sli na Finne Way", which makes it a great place for walking and exploring including lots of other walks and ways right at your doorstep. About half an hours drive from us we have several stunning beaches. The highest cliffs of Europe are nearby as well as Glenveagh National Park.
This is also an area well renowned for traditional music. Some famous fiddlers are living nearby and you will find regular traditional music sessions especially in the Glenties area.

Hello, we are a family of 4: Declan + Marion with our two children. We loved our first experiences as Airbnb hosts with our B&B. We met so many wonderful people and it as was a joy and pleasure to invite each one of them to our home, to get to know them and to make them feel welcome. That's what we want to continue to do. With our first listing (Relax in the hills of Donegal) closed we now offer the following exciting listings: Our "Wonderly Wagon", a lovingly restored original bow-top gypsy caravan and our newly finished Meadowsweet Hill Lodge where you can either choose to book one of the two private rooms or the whole Lodge. We put all our passion into the self-build Lodge connected to our dream to own one day Ireland's smallest hostel. But it had to be so much more than a hostel where people meet and get together, it had to be something special and extra cosy! See for yourself! We have often volunteers from all corners of the world staying with us in our home to help with different projects and in the garden. Our very next project will be to restore an old fishing boat into an accommodation with the theme of a pirate ship! We all love and often play Irish traditional music together. I love and write poetry (one book published in Germany), I'm also a herbalist and a very keen gardener producing herbal tea's. Declan and I visited this area some years ago and fell straight in love with the nature, culture and people here. And now we simply want to share this beautiful experience with you!
