Book 3 nights for best experience! This super cute and cozy cottage is the perfect fit for your next getaway.

Located on a working Alpaca & Sheep Ranch the cottage overlooks quiet Lake Corpus Christi, and is just 45 minutes from downtown Corpus Christi and the marina district. Watch the sun rise from the front deck, relax on back deck while watching incredible sunsets over the lake. Minimum stay is 2 nights—But we recommend you book at least 3 nights because 2 just is not long enough!

The space
Perfect for two! This cottage comes with a Queen size bed, love seat and rocker recliner. The kitchen is plenty big enough to prepare meals. It is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, microwave, toaster, coffee maker. Make the most of your stay at the ranch by making arrangements for a tour of the farm or reserving time in the Fiber Arts Studio for your favorite crafting. You'll enjoy the experience!

If you need an additional bed, we have a rollaway twin, a twin and full air bed. Be sure you communicate your needs with the owner. Please note: this cottage has a step-in shower with molded seat and dual faucets.

Guest access
It is important that prospective guest read through this description before inquiring or requesting stays on the farm. The farm is located 45 miles Northwest of the city of Corpus Christi. It is rural and country side and is located across the road from lakeside to Lake Corpus Christi near Mathis, TX. It is a working farm and guest will be exposed to actual farm life and all that comes with it. While we welcome families, the farm lifestyle may not be agreeable to some children. Extreme supervision is required of parents.

Guests have access to most of the areas of the ranch. However, guests are not allowed inside any enclosure, paddock or pasture when animals are present unless accompanied by owner or staff. The Shop, located inside the main building, is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays. (Note: if doors are locked text the owner, it generally means they are somewhere on the property). Sundays by appointment only. Guests should be aware that in addition to using Livestock Guardian Dogs and as part of the security for the farm, security cameras are installed on the main building and are in use 24/7. The cams are trained on specific animal paddocks, shelters and nearby pastures, as well as the main entry point to the ranch and parking areas that are located near animals shelters.

Guests should all wear appropriate clothing and shoes while at the ranch. Roads and driveways are gravel, and are uneven. At night it can be very dark and the uneven roads and walkways can be hard to navigate without a flashlight. Sturdy shoes are a must! During summer we recommend sunscreen and if it’s been rainy, mosquito spray is helpful.

Please be aware that the farm is in a rural/country area, and wild life is abundant! You may see rabbits, squirrels, foxes, field mice and moles, skunks, raccoons, deer. Occasionally wild pigs and javelina have wandered through the farm. Also be alert for coyotes and Bobcat. While rare, cougar are spotted occasionally. Also be very aware that snakes, spiders and scorpions also live on the farm. Not all snakes are poisonous but you should treat them all as though they are! Tell the owner of any encounter you have with any wildlife on the property.

Our LGDs (Livestock Guardian Dogs) alert us as well as let predatory animals know they are working and keep the farm safe by barking and/or howling. Their noise is a part of the farm as much as the crowing of the roosters.

We do allow small breed dogs (maximum weight of 15 pounds) in this cabin with an additional charge per pet per visit of $25.00. A separate invoice will be sent after booking the cabin. Dogs must be kept on leash when outside of the cabin and can not be tied or left unattended at anytime. Please message the owner if you have any questions concerning pet visits.

Other things to note
The State Park, which is only a few minutes away by car, offers swimming, boating, hiking and bicycling, fishing pier, kayaking. If you wish to bring your boat, please make arrangements ahead of your visit for a place to park it.

Corpus Christi has several points of interests for the guests. IH37 ends at the Bay Front and takes approximately 35 minutes from access to reach. The Ranch is 4 miles from the access to IH37.

Location

Lake City, Texas, United States

The cottage is located about 1/4 mile from the nearest neighbors. The neighborhood is in a rural area, 2 miles outside of Mathis, Texas (a small South Texas town of about 5,000). The Lake is surrounded by multiple communities, of which Lake City is one.

Birders will find the property has plenty of areas to watch from. A lot of wooded areas that are kept natural for good habitat assures the best views. Fall and Spring visitors will be happy to know that the property is in the path of many migrating birds.

Inquire about parking your outboard motor boat and trailer on the property during your stay. In most cases there is room to turn around.

BBQ pits and picnic tables are located outside each cottage. If it is too windy for the BBQ pits there is a gas grill on the Patio.

My husband, Mark, and I began raising alpacas for their fleece on our 5 acre tract in 2007. Since then we have acquired another 35 acres and began also raising Gulf Coast Sheep for their fleece. Our herd size ranges from 30-40 alpaca. We keep our sheep at 8-10. Our two grown kids help out with shearing and other big jobs. We are happy to share this beautiful spot with visitors to our ranch!
