A small brown shingled creekside cottage is located in a sunny rear garden with lots of birds and a little dog. A bathroom extension was just added to the cottage. The cottage is located within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops. 15 minute walk to North Berkeley BART.Usually my kitchen is available for guests, but covid has caused me to limit my guests to their cottage and the garden. In addition, I would like them to wear masks when on my property.

The space
My home and cottage stand on the last remaining parcels of Christiana tract, a former Berkeley farm which is along Cordornices Creek.. It is a place of restful beauty with a large cottonwood tree adjacent to the cottage and two great redwoods across the creek. For solitude, peace and quiet, and a bit of wilderness in a busy world, it is perfect. It is also only 13 houses from coffee shops, fine dining, Berkeley Natural Foods and transportation.

Guest access
There is a washer and dryer but, it is available for weekly guests only..The guests have access to my home, garden room and living room, dining room and kitchen. The upstairs is off limits.

I love the variety of my neighborhood and also being able to walk to everything. It's an active multicultural neighborhood with bustling businesses and a variety of ages,. At the corner one can buy coffee, bagels, out-standing sweets, and even organic groceries. There is a beautiful nursery that is a treat to visit.. Curtis and Gilman is the crossroads of the Ohlone trail which is the name of the BART path
and is filled daily with bicyclists, commuters, walkers, strollers, people exercising and dog walkers. There are several neighborhood restaurants - La Limes is a high- end excellent restaurant. There is a delicious Sushi Place.. Coming in late March is the Westbrae Bier Garden with the Brazilian Food Truck. They will serve beer and wine Tri tip. Also various food trucks will be there weekly.. The Berkeley Natural Grocery is across from La Limes. If my guests want to visit Berkeley, and the University, it is 20 minutes away. This is the perfect location. San Francisco is also very close, about 40 minutes by Bart. Once in San Francisco, One can explore the city neighborhoods or visit the Museums using public transportation. Po

I am a retired educator who loves to travel. Originally from the Midwest,I came to the Bay area in the 60's. attended Cal , have two children who live in the area. Bought my creek side brown shingled house in 1970 and have lived here ever since. The house is charming. It was built in 1896. Since I retired I have hosted students from abroad through LSI, an English language school in downtown Berkeley. Hosting students from abroad has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. I keep in touch with many of them. l love history, art, architecture, music, and San Francisco. I went to the University of Colorado, but graduated from Indiana. I also attended Columbia University. I try to go to Europe annually. I love travel, gardening pets, and children. Currently my favorite places in Europe are Varenna on Lake Como and Murren in Switzerland. My motto is "Life is good!"
