A beautifully converted School House that sits within walking distance of a historic local village and breath-taking beach. Cosy yet spacious, The Old School House has a large garden and everything you need for a perfect Cornish holiday.

The space

The Old School House offers spacious and historic accommodation in the rural village of Crantock.

Both the beach and our house are dog friendly making it perfect for your holiday all year around. A short trip away is the iconic Eden Project, Watergate Bay (home to Jamie Oliver’s restaurant Fifteen) and the Camel Trail cycle path to Padstow as well as other family attractions and dozens of stunning beaches.

**In high season (June - September) we rent our house on a Saturday to Saturday weekly basis.**

We offer The Old School House as a home from home, making sure you have the essentials you need when you arrive. We provide beach accessories, flasks and picnic-ware, dog blankets and a barbecue so your holiday is the best it can be.

Violet, your host lives next-door so is often available to listen out for your dogs if you go out on a day trip or need anything.

Crantock is one of the most idyllic villages in Cornwall, home to Britain's Best Beach (voted by BBC Coast in 2013) and is part of a coastline that is famous for its surfing, pubs, coastal walks, wildlife and local events.

Our house is situated less than a mile outside the village, so a bus to local towns and the nearest city, Truro, is less than a 10 minutes walk away. The nearest train station is 10 minutes away by car but we would suggest renting a car during your visit.

The house is full of things that we hope will make you comfortable during your stay. Things like bedlinen, towels, guide books and information on local events are provided. There is a village shop and three large supermarkets within a 10 minute drive.

WiFi internet is available. We welcome guests with dogs at a cost of £30 per dog. Please pay for this on arrival. :)

The Old Schoolhouse was beautiful and looked just like the pictures. The place was clean and comfortable and with plenty of beautiful areas to expire on foot around. Crantock village was gorgeous. We were a bit loss as to what to do on the day we checked out as it was a rainy day and we did not hire a car - a bit of local knowledge or friendly advice would have been nice.

Such a pretty cottage with lovely original and quirky original features. The rooms were lovely and spacious and the house was fully equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. The surroundings are so picturesque with lovely views of sheep outside the bedroom windows. We can also definitely recommend the homemade jam that Meg and Violet also sell. It is situated in in a quite area but only a few minutes drive away from Newquay or a short walk to the Crantock. All in all a lovely home with fantastic hosts would definitely recommend.

We stayed at Meg & Violet's place for a week in August. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and even received a plant from Violet upon our departure. Violet was extremely welcoming and lived next door so if there are any issues the hosts aren't far away. We loved the shabby chic decor of the place and there was more than enough room for the four of us. Six people could easily stay here and have plenty of room as there are three bedrooms and it is a large bungalow. There are plenty of board games and books for rainy days and evenings if you need. The location was great, About a mile walk to the beach down a country lane. I wouldnt recommend the two pubs in crantock village as they weren't to my liking, they were basic but there are plenty of better pubs and places to eat in the area just a short drive. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks again, Yvonne, Mick, Gemma & Emily

This is a lovely home with super beds and many attractive touches. It's light and airy with beautiful sunsets. We found it convenient for walking to the village and the beach but feel sorry that there is more traffic in the high season. Meg and Violet were responsive to requests and we enjoyed meeting them.

Loved the location, we had a mixture of rain and sun but did manage a couple of nice days on the beach which is just a lovely short walk away. Everything we needed was provided including a windbreak which was good as we couldn't fit ours in the car! A real home from home and plenty of space with 3 teenagers to consider. A lovely stay, thank you.

Hello! I'm Meg, and my mum is Violet. We both love living near the sea and enjoy foraging for wild food and evening swims at the local beaches. I have a love for travel and I have stayed at four other AirBnb places in Europe and counting. We're very easy going and look forward to making your stay as lovely as possible.
