I'm the live-in owner of an Edwardian house located in an attractive, residential area between the rail station and historic city centre - less than a ten minute walk in either direction.

Most of my guests are academics: visiting scholars, post-docs and interns; and the occasional business professional.

Vibrant/cosmopolitan Mill Rd is one minute's walk away with its many independent cafes, restaurants and shops.

Even though I'm in the city centre, the street is very quiet and safe.

The space
A pretty, good sized single bedroom (approx 3.1 x 2.2m) on the first floor of the property - for single occupancy only {note: I have another (double) room listed on Airbnb which is also available for single occupancy}. The room has a single antique bedstead, high quality, medium sprung Vi-Spring pocketed mattress, painted floorboards and persian rug, stripped pine chest and small writing table. There is limited hanging space in the wardrobe (which also houses the central heating boiler and hot water tank).

Where you’ll be

Cambridge, United Kingdom

Glisson Road is an attractive residential street in the heart of the city - yet despite its close proximity to historic centre and colleges, is also very quiet. Most of the houses (mine included) were built in the early Edwardian era - about one hundred and ten years ago. The city centre is a short ten minute stroll across Parkers Piece (one of Cambridge's many inner city parks). Cosmopolitan Mill Road, with its independent cafes, bars and restaurants, is just around the corner. The train station, with frequent services into London, is also ten minutes walk away

I have lived in the centre of Cambridge, UK for over 20 years. My career was in science PR consultancy but I'm retired from that now. I'm a keen walker and cyclist. I use Airbnb to explore the diverse islands of Britain and sometimes to wander further afield, especially mainland Europe, Spain and France in particular. I play a bit of guitar and harmonica but don't have the patience (and possibly the talent) to get good at either. Other things that make me smile, in no particular order, are photography, literature, carpentry, an allotment and live music.

The Airbnb questionnaire asks about "guest Interaction". Well, I'm happy to chat over a cup of tea / glass of wine and am equally happy to leave you to yourself.
