Great location
90% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
The house was built in the mid-1800s as a private home by Henry Walker who was wise enough to capitalize on the clay in the soil and had 3 brickyards. On The National Register of Historic Places,the house is located just over Portland townline so you’ll enjoy the space,quiet and safety of a family-oriented area minutes to the center of town.
Yes, we are pet friendly BUT we need to know at the time of your booking. Please do not just show up with a pet. Your reservation may not be honored.

Guest access
- Your apartment has two, private, locked entrances: one from the driveway, the other from your private garden.
- Plenty of free, off-street parking for multiple vehicles as well as any trailers for your toys.
- You'll have exclusive use of a large fenced in backyard (see photos) with a picnic bench, charcoal BBQ, small bubbling fountain/pond, and plenty of comfortable chairs and tables.

Other things to note
I put 100% into making the space one that I would be comfortable in myself: private, quiet, clean, convenient and comfortable.

I expect my guests to treat it as if it were their own home, respect the time and effort that goes into maintaining it and ask that they;

- PLEASE be careful if eating or drinking on the couches or daybeds. If necessary, there are always extra blankets or throws that can be put down. It’s much easier to clean wine or chocolate off that then it is to clean the upholstery

– do not not wipe anything on the towels that will not come out in the wash - the same with the bed linens

– Lower the heat/air conditioning if you’ll be out for a considerable amount of time. Only leave on lights that are necessary.

– Kindly be conservative with flushing and, please mademoiselles and señoritas nothing that could potentially clog some VERY old pipes

Greetings from Gorgeous, Green Maine, (a.k.a. “Vacationland”) I’m a visual artist and educator just recently semi-retired after 20 years of teaching at the college level as well as conducting workshops and lecturing throughout the US. I’m a native New Yorker, born and raised in Greenwich Village. After a two-decade pitstop in Boston, MA, I now live and teach in Portland, Maine where I'm enjoying restoring a grand dame of a Victorian brick house that is on the National Registry of Historic Places. I share it with 5 felines: Spike, Rufus, Clementine, Grifton and Kitty Carlisle. #5 of 6 kids, I have always been creative, curious and have needed to "make things". As an adult, that has manifested itself into what, by default, is labeled ...”ART” !! Between my teaching/lecturing and exhibiting my "things ", I have been fortunate enough to work with Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts and Institute of Contemporary Art, The School of The Museum of Fine Arts, Massachusetts College of Art, Brandeis University, Wellesley College, The Guild of Bookworkers, Brigham Young University, The Provincetown Fine Arts Workcenter, The Center for The Book in both New York and San Francisco, an independently-run art school in Greece and Harvard University. This year, I’ve been invited to be the visiting artist on a retreat in a monastery in Tuscany. The role of a “visiting artist “ is simply to make my “things “, interact with the participants on the retreat, and hopefully provide “un pochino” of inspiration. At a young age, I had a love of travel, a desire to explore and a hunger for new experiences instilled in me by incredible Mom and Dad. I travel often for work/research and, as much as I possibly can, purely for pleasure. I have been fortunate enough to visit Greece, Italy, India, France, England, Ireland, Portugal and New Jersey. My mother kept meticulous journals whenever she traveled - invaluable now that she has passed. I recently came across this quote that sums up how I also feel about traveling, "I will always be ready to get on a bus or a train or a boat or a plane to anywhere..."
