Enjoy a bright private room with wifi, a desk, and full private bathroom in this quiet, cozy household.

The two cats and I love to host visitors for any length of time, and are conveniently located near both Kalamazoo College and Western University's campuses, and Downtown Kalamazoo. All are welcome!

Guest access

There is a wonderful patio and small grill that can be used in the summer months, an open living and dining room space available for your use. There is a TV in the living room with Chrome connection and access to Hulu or Spotify. If you enjoy cooking or baking, there is fully stocked kitchen as well!

There is laundry in the basement if you need it, and your bedroom and bathroom will be your own private rooms.

Interaction with guests

I am available at the house, or via text during your stay should you have any questions or want any recommendations of things to do, see, or eat around town.

I work most week days but am often hanging around the house cooking or relaxing in the evenings and am happy to engage in conversation or not depending on your mood!

The cats are pretty friendly and love to be pet, but if they're in your way, it's fine to "send them to their room" for a bit as well.

Other things to note

While the household is just the cats and I, and we tend to be pretty low-key, we are located in a college neighborhood and many of our neighbors are students. Things tend to be quiet more often than not but there are occasional tailgating events or parties, so if you're looking for complete quiet, this may not be the place for you.

THE BASICS: I ask that if you use any of the common spaces, the kitchen in particular, that you clean up after
yourself. Regular cups and dishes used can be rinsed and loaded into the dishwasher. There's no specific quiet hours but if someone else in the house is sleeping or resting, please be respectful and aware of your noise levels. That said, the house is old and creaky - I am used to that and tune it out without issue :)

HOUSE KEY: Please leave the key in the lockbox at all times, I occasionally have pet sitters come by and they need access as well.

CATS: The cats are not allowed in the guest bedroom, guest bathroom, or front office. Please keep those doors securely closed. Please do not feed the cats unless you've checked with me first - they always act starved, but I promise, they're not. If they bother you at all, just let me know and I'll get them out of your way for a bit :)

CHECK OUT: Please leave the bed unmade, and any used towels on the floor. I will change the sheets after each
guest. If you have time, you can strip the bed, but if not, no worries.

You must also acknowledge
Must climb stairs - Your bathroom is on the first floor and the bedroom is on the second floor.
Potential for noise - Mostly quiet area but can be loud during WMU football games (I live close to the stadium) or if any of the college neighbors have a party.
Pet(s) live on property - Currently there are three cats in charge of the house. Elphaba (gray), Apollo (orange), & Kennedy (black and white).
Some spaces are shared - Kitchen and living areas

Brie and her cats are ideal hosts. The house is charming, the location spot on, the hospitality worthy of copious gold stars, and the felines added all the at home entertainment I could ask for. As a newbie to the city, the advice on parking and where to visit was greatly appreciated. The bed was ridiculously cozy, the bathroom spick and span, and the tea options plentiful. All the amenities you could hope for are provided, down to the smallest detail. Truly welcoming place and company. Would return in a heartbeat.

Brie is fantastic and has an awesome place! She was very communicative and friendly and made my stay super enjoyable. If you are in the area, her place comes highly recommended. It’s a great location in regards to the surrounding schools and points of interest also! The house was even better than advertised and has a wonderful charm about it, plus the cats are pretty great too.

Brie is the most amazing host I have ever worked with on Air BnB, she accomodate my work schedule, invited me to dinner with her friends and offered a perfect home for my needs. She has three amazing cats, but no worries people, I am allergic and had no issues at all! I didn't even need a Benedryl.

Brie has a wonderful home including all the amenities that you need when traveling, privacy (but also the chance to meet a wonderful woman!), clean, comfortable, and a great bathroom! Brie is ready to welcome you as a friend, not just someone staying in her home. It was such a treat to stay with Brie and I hope I have a reason to travel to Kalamazoo again. I can highly recommend staying with Brie!

If you love funky artsy cool kinds of places to stay like me, this is the one. Art everywhere, herbs in little magnet tins on the fridge, right next to two colleges including my Alma Mater Western Michigan U, Brie's house is perfect for students, health food advocates and generally laid back cool people. We shared food right from the start and I was as comfortable as could be. Most business travelers might find it a bit rustic but the wireless internet was great and the bed was soft and comfy. P.S. must love cats. I'm a dog person, but Brie's cats were playful and adorable. One little downside, even though you have a private bath you do have to walk downstairs to get to it, but what the hey, I need the exercise. I'll be back the next time I come to Kalamazoo. Lova ya Brie.

My name is Brie and I live with my cat roommates in the wonderful Kalamazoo, MI. I work as a bookkeeper/financial adviser for several local small businesses and in my free time am training to be part of the Killamazoo Derby Darlins Roller Derby team.

Other things I enjoy include the circus, dancing, cat memes, laughing, my family, cooking, baking, board games, theatre, spreadsheets, fall, and decorative gourds.

I love to learn new things and meet new people both via hosting and travelling. See you soon!
