Large, bright, fully-equipped, completely private, 1200 square foot apartment with open plan kitchen/living/dining room. The balcony off the bedroom overlooks a quiet bay of lovely Lake Vernon, and there is a comfortable queen sized sofa bed in the living room.

Come and experience Muskoka.

The cottage is on a 5 acre lot with a private 425 feet of waterfront at the west end of the lake, 10 kms. from Highway 11 and 15 minutes from Huntsville, with easy access on paved roads.

The space
Details matter when it comes to luxurious accommodation including high quality linens and bedding, bathrobes, and a thick and thin pillow for each person, top sheets as well as duvets, magnifying mirror, hooks on doors, and the use of rowing machine, weights and elliptical trainer in the exercise room below the apartment.

There is a multitude of activities nearby, including winter sports such as curling, ice skating, skiing, and snow-mobiling, and the wildlife including deer, and wild turkey, is lovely. (Aspen Wildlife centre is a good place to see orphaned and injured animals that have been rescued). Arrowhead Provincial park is great for glade ice skating and other winter sports. For a video of some Arrowhead fall trails see....https://youtu.be/GNrB-kS_3-g

The town of Huntsville offers live theatre and cinema, interesting shops and a variety of restaurants, several on the water. The Town is famous for its artist colonies and their studios are open for visits at various weekends and by appointment,

Guest access
Guests can access all the outdoor areas, from beach, dock and waterfront to the woods, lawns, barbecues, firepit and picnic tables. In summer there are some watercraft for guests' use, including a canoe, and two kayaks. In winter, cross country skiis and snow shoes are provided and once the lake is frozen it makes a wonderful ice skating or cross country skiing area.

Other things to note
First time or seasoned visitors can find many undiscovered adventures in and around Huntsville. Huntsvilleadventures.com provides a starting point for hikes, and dining. From Spring to Fall, activities include tree top trekking, visiting artist studios and farmers’ markets, axe throwing and more.

The peace and quiet can be a welcome escape from city noise. Wildlife abounds in the area, from deer to squirrels, raccoons to mink and wild turkeys to otters, and depending on the season many wild bird species from herons and loons to buffle-heads.

We provide ingredients to make your own breakfast...including croissants, sliced bread and condiments, eggs, cereals, milk, coffee and tea.

Please note the water comes from a spring on the property and is then micro-filtered and put through a UV laser that kills bacteria and viruses. These devices are replaced regularly and the water is tested by the local health unit. So it is not necessary to bring any bottled water. We have been drinking our spring water for over 30 years.

Netflix is available, unlimited internet downloads and a very comprehensive DVD library as well and Satellite television with sports and news programs.

We are trying to reduce our carbon footprint, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by 8% a year. Guests can help by switching off lights and separating recycling and compost from trash. Thank you.

We used to camp here when we first bought the land, when our children were little. Then when all the tents started to leak in 1986 we built the cottage as a holiday home while we lived and worked near Toronto. We came here to live permanently in 2005 and renovated it for year-round living. It's paradise. In the winter we curl, ice skate, and cross country ski, play bridge, and socialise. Over the years, having lived in England, Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman, we have had many opportunities to travel to other countries and feel very lucky to have become close friends with people of different cultures and races. We also think we know what makes guests comfortable and content, having been guests so often ourselves.
