The space

The Blue Sky Tourist Home looks out at the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains from its wide front porch. You will have a completely private suite (bedroom and bath with claw foot tub!) with a private entrance and can enjoy the view on the porch in old wicker rockers right outside your door.

The Blue Sky Tourist Home is located 18 minutes east of Charlottesville, Virginia, home of the University of Virginia, Monticello, Ash Lawn, great restaurants, and beautiful vistas. Five golf courses are easy drives, including Spring Creek only five minutes away, voted best course under $75 in the country. It is 45 minutes from Barboursville and Horton Vineyards and Montpelier, James Madison's newly restored home, and 40 minutes from Richmond with a world class museum and more history attractions. Colonial Williamsburg is about two hours away, as is Washington, D.C. The Blue Sky Tourist Home has modern amenities like wifi, DishTV, a small coffee pot in your room and a mini- refrigerator all surrounded by charming antiques and an old-timey feel.
.
Innkeeper, teacher, writer, entrepreneur Lee Knapp has left brochures and restaurant suggestions in the room and is happy to answer your questions, but will be quite out of your way during your visit.

Lee was an amazing host! Her place is perfect for guests and is private. She is thoughtful, communicative and gracious. We will definitely stay with her again when we visit Charlottesville. Great location and extras like chocolate croissants and coffee!

Quiet comfortable newly built but designed to look old and comfortable home in the country with no houses nearby. Just open fields and distant view of mountains. Big wrap porch. Private entrance and bath. Nice comfortable decor. Small TV. Claw foot bathtub and shower. Truly an escape.

This was the third time I've stayed with Lee while working in the area. The room is cozy, clean, and warmly decorated. Lee provides a coffee pot and a mini fridge. She also had a small heater available, which I used this stay. I will definitely return when back in the area!

This is the second time my husband and I stayed at Lee's place. It's so beautiful and relaxing there, especially sitting on the porch in the morning drinking coffee. It's very conveniently located off the highway and nearby Charlottesville which is one of our favorite places to visit in VA. Will definitely stay here again in the future!

Lee's home was an amazing old farmhouse in a beautiful setting! Lee was very easy to communicate with and did not seem to have a problem with our arriving after dark. She was nothing but hospitable and we enjoyed our stay very much.

I'm Lee Knapp, a veteran ceramic artist, entrepreneur ( and history and epistemology teacher at my old public high school where I graduated when Gerry Ford was the non-elected American president. I've published a book, written a screenplay, and am currently working on another book, but the best thing I've produced are my three grown sons, now in Portland, Oregon, Brooklyn, NY, and Baltimore. All of us are alumni of the College of William and Mary.
My grandmother ran a boarding house in North Carolina for decades. It was called the Norlina Tourist Home so it is with much tradition that I call my place the Blue Sky Tourist Home where I hope folks can come to slow down and breathe in a little fresh air. The view isn't too bad, either.
