The characterful railway carriage has been completely refurbished for the intention of a bed and breakfast and has a likeness to a 'tiny house'.
Located on our Great Western vineyard it is a peaceful and beautiful place to get away and explore the area, or simply rest.
If you are lucky enough to book during vintage you might get to see some harvest in action.
Send us a message for a discount longer stays.

The space
Walk through the original narrow door to enter the main living area. At one end is a king size bed, the other has the living area and kitchenette.
Step down to a spacious rustic in appearance styled bathroom. Sit, relax and watch the birdlife over the vineyard and dam on the front deck. The deck has a hooded BBQ with a side burner for cooking meals.
There is a lawn area below the deck that leads to the dam with a wooden picnic table and a fire drum to have a campfire during colder months.

The railway Bed and Breakfast is located on the family vineyard where the family home is also located. Your accommodation is fully self contained with a private entrance and separate parking.
A continental breakfast is provided and will be on the bench when you arrive. Where possible we use homemade jams and preserves. There is a herb garden next to the carriage guests can use for cooking.
The accommodation has a reverse cycle air conditioner to keep you warm and cool. It is also well insulated so, comfortable all year round.
If you are arriving late the sensor light will turn on automatically.
Please refer to the ‘check in’ instructions on how to get to you accommodation and where to park.

Guest access
There is a pool on the property for the private use of the family.
The family home and sheds on the property are private.
There are tracks around the property as well as through the adjacent Westgate Reserve. We ask that guests do not walk through the vineyard due to the spread of pests and disease but are welcome to walk around the property on the tracks.

Other things to note
Because of the steps from the car park, on the deck and down to the bathroom and the original narrow doorways, this property is not suitable for people with mobility issues.

We have a friendly border collie dog named Milo and a cat named Patty. Neither are welcome in your accommodation, but may come to say hello. If you are worried about dogs or cats, please let us know and we will keep them away during your stay. While we do love animals, unfortunately because we have pets we do not allow guests to bring their own.

The Westgate Bushland reserve next to our property has a old mines dating back to the 1800's when gold was discovered and the Chinese miners settled in the area. There are tracks throughout the reserve for you to explore.
Venture up the hill to take in the 360-degree panorama of the Grampians, Ararat, wind farms and Mt Langi Ghiran.
We are 8 minutes drive from Great Western where we recommend you visit the local wineries and do one of the underground cellar tours with our friends at Best's or Seppelts wines as well as visiting Grampians Estate Winery which has recently added a cafe for light lunches. While in Great Western, Salinger's Café and the Great Western Hotel will further tempt you with great coffee, food, cold beer and local wines. The local shop sells take-away food. Closer to home is another winery, ATR wines as well as our own Cellar Door onsite.
The nearest supermarkets are located 10 minutes away in Ararat.
We are only 40 minutes drive from Halls Gap and the wonders of the Grampians National Park.
