The clutter, and the old house fixtures and features were at first off-putting. But I found the place clean and hospitable. The host is friendly if a little colorful; helpful, and accommodating. It's not fancy, but a good inexpensive place to stay in Elmira.

The extra personal touches of home that the host provided, like specially prepared chef's omelets, fresh towels, soaps, candles, and free flowing speciality beer were an unexpected great bonus!! For safe going and coming back to the house, the host also always kept a porch "light…

Harry is a fantastic host. His house is your house, and it really feels that way. So, if you want to feel at home, Grand Hotel is the place. If clutter makes you anxious, Harry’s place would not be a good fit.

My Kitchen showers and Bath rooms had been cleaned several times recently before My guests arrived .They were storing food in freezer and Frig in My downstairs Laundry room where an overhead steam pipe had sprung a leak and I had recently fixed and did a temp. mop job.Just Had a tenant move out and leave an amazing amount of flotsom jetsom in that room and the outer basement! She neglected to tell me she needed 3 rooms not 2; Nor did she mention the 2 Home Made soups Turkey & Split Pea; Or the Three wines Malbec,Rioja ,Chardonnay or Cava that I offered Free of Charge To The Guests.Sorry My Basement needs cleaning But MY 115 year Old house(including showers & Bath) were cleaned daily prior to Her arrival!
