Unfortunately we weren't able to make it to Islay due to an incoming storm and ferries being cancelled. However, Susan was nice enough to refund the full amount even though we cancelled the day of, due to extenuating circumstances.

Awesome hosts, generous, kind and knowledgeable. Place is clean, very comfortable and 5 meters away from a bas stop. Amazing garden and installations.

I was in Islay to visit a customer, and was shocked and disappointed with the extortionate price of most hotels and B and B's. This accommodation was perfectly fine for us for a night and while it's not 5 star luxury, the owners were very friendly, helpful, and the room ticked all the boxes for this (URL HIDDEN) a lot less money than other hotels etc !

Response from Susan:
The footwear in the porch were boots kindly removed and left there by three young considerate guests who had returned after walking in the rain. They were removed soon after, stuffed with newspaper and left by the log fire to dry.

Susan and Bill are the loveliest hosts I've met, making my stay on Islay an even greater experience. In every possible way, I couldn't recommend their place more.

We loved our stay in Ballygrant with Susan and Bill! Our room was plenty spacious for us and our toddler daughter in her travel crib. The location in Ballygrant was a nicely central starting-off point and it was easy to get anywhere else on Islay from there. It's especially convenient to Port Askaig, the Bunnahabhein and Caol Ila distilleries, Finlaggen, and the Islay Woolen Mills. The huge shared bathroom has no tub, just a shower, because they used the space to put in a sauna! It was too rainy to enjoy the gardens this trip, but they looked lovely from the sunroom. Susan and Bill are warm and welcoming and seem to love hosting travellers and sharing stories. Thank you both for a wonderful first trip to Islay for us!

My boyfriend and I stayed here during our cycle around Islay. Susan's house is ideally located for trips to bunnahabhain and caol ila as well as the ferry to Jura! Susan and Bill are great hosts and is definitely recommend a stay!
