Situated within the fold of the ancient Ox Mountain range with stunning views, vast history and a rich array of wildlife the Ox Mountain Shepherds Hut is a unique living experience and the ideal choice for lovers of the outdoors and seekers of quirky accommodation.
The Hut itself is roughly 8 miles from Tubbercurry, Co Sligo.

The space
The Ox Mountain Shepherds Hut is a truly unique living experience away from modern day life.
Our beautifully restored, genuine original Shepherds Hut simply contains the minimum needs of shelter and warmth.
The space is made up of a single open room housing a comfortable sofa which folds out to a double bed at one end of the Hut and a double storage press with worktop area at the other side of the Hut.
In between both and under one of the windows we have a fold out table area where you can enjoy your meals with a view.
There is also an electric space heater.
The exterior of the Hut has extensive grounds for camping and a picnic bench is provided beside the Hut for you to enjoy outdoor meals or drinks.

The Ox Mountain Shepherds Hut can sleep 2 on its fold out sofa, extra guest sleep beside the Hut in tent accommodation, ideal for family's who want a safe enjoyable camping experience with a little extra comfort provided by the Hut. **We can provide a 4man tent at an additional cost of 15euros per person**.
We do not supply sleeping bags.

Shepherds Huts date as far back to the 15th century where on continental Europe they where used to house sheep farmers and other workers on assignments that took them away from their homes.
The sheep farming tradition of using the Huts continued into the early 20th century in Scotland the U.K and Ireland. Modern industrial farming saw an effective end to the use of the Huts and today very few originals remain making your stay a truly unique and we hope special experience.

The Shepherds Hut has power, lighting and heating but no running water or bathroom.
To accommodate this the cabin directly beside the Shepherds Hut houses a single toilet and kitchen sink area. This Cabin also contains an electric kettle, toaster, a gas camping stove and a BBQ for you to prepare and cook your meals.
(BBQ must only be used outdoors, please ensure you locate the BBQ on a stable and level area before lighting, we suggest beside the Huts picnic bench)

For the more adventurous chiefs our campsite fire pit sits adjacent to the Hut and can be used to cook at or to simply share camp fire stores under the stars.

The use of services can also be availed off in our bunk'n'barn building which houses 2 toilets, 2 wash hand basins and an electric shower.
The building also contains a kitchen area and solid fuel stove for drying any clothing or gear.

The water from all our kitchen taps is safe for drinking and comes from our very own mountain spring providing us with crystal clear invigorating fresh drinking water.

OX MOUNTAIN SPA

A Spring Water Spa is the newest addition to the Glamping site of the Ox Mountain Adventure Camp.
Residents of any of the on-site accommodation (red bus, tree house, log cabin, shepherds hut, original cottage and hide-away) can now avail of booking a private time-out session in a hot tub jacuzzi, filled with warm soft spring water from the surrounding Ox Mountains.
On an elevated wooden terrace nested between two wise hawthorn bushes this wellness oasis promises ultimate relaxation and absolute privacy.
Fully sheltered from the elements you can enjoy a glass of wine or read a book while admiring a postcard image of unspoiled mountain scenery embedded within forty shades of green.
Even during the long dark winter nights, you may be lucky to see the moon rise over the mountain and feel the magic of a sparkling dark sky, undisturbed by any city light pollution.
