This was by far one of my favorite AirBnb experiences in the US. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, with so many amazing design details. The electric fireplace in the bedroom was such a treat! I also loved that the space was quiet and private, as I work remotely. I was able to both relax and get work done while enjoying this historic home. Could not have been more pleased. Lillian (the house manager) is a delight, and amazingly hospitable- I definitely enjoyed chatting with her! She is warm and friendly and creates a wonderful experience in the space (and even supplied me with an iPhone charger when I couldn't find mine) No more hotels for me in Eureka, I'll definitely pop back in here instead!

Samantha was really gracious and was a good host in helping me figure out the keyless door. A good thing about the place was that it was a close distance to old town, and the room was very cozy.

I enjoyed my stay at the Victorian. The description and the provided pictures were exactly what I was expecting. I was staying by myself, and thus I felt my assigned room was adequate. However, if staying with more than one person, the rooms might feel a little small. Some may not care for the shared bathrooms that are also quite small, but again, this was not an issue for me. Overall, I felt this was a very good place to stay in Eureka and the pricing was very reasonable. Just be sure to read the description and look at the photos and know what to expect. Things are set up differently than your typical hotel room. If staying here, I would suggest bringing a small, portable fan. Even though the weather is generally cool, the rooms can sometimes get a bit stuffy if there isn't a breeze blowing in. Bringing a fan might make things more comfortable, as there are no ceiling fans. Another thing to consider bringing are those eye-covering visors: above each bedroom door is a window that lets the hallway lights shine in, so the rooms may not be as dark for sleeping as some may like. This didn't bother me, but might affect others.

Great quirky Victorian house but could do with a bit of TLC and better pillows. Minimal interaction with the host - if you need recommendations then get down to The Sspeakeasy on Opera Alley and speak to the barman there.

You'll definitely get a good night's sleep here. This place is located on the edge of the waterfront and the historic Eureka district, all with within easy walking distance. We enjoyed the local restaurants and cafes where the locals hangout. We highly recommend this AirB&B for your road trip.

I am an interior designer who was born and raised in Los Angeles. In 2013 I moved to Humboldt County and bought "The Victorian Eureka", a very large and historic house in Eureka, Ca. I spent the next few years gutting and re-inventing the old lady from head to toe. In 2016, I formally started having rooms available at "The Victorian Eureka" though it was listed under a different profile until September 2017.
When not working on another interior design project or writing on my blog Alteredecor, you can usually find me at The Victorian in one of the many gardens or working inside covered in a new design idea!
My vibrant daughters Arcata Rainbow and Alyna Rose live in the house as well as our mini dachshund Crimson, bunny Harlowe and two chickens Zinnea and Dottie in the backyard. Just ask and we'd be happy to share some organic eggs! Our house manager Lillian will probably greet you at the door and is happy to help you in any way you might need.
