Nature lovers feel at home in my cozy cabin but are a mile from the U of O, Hayward Field, Matthew Knight Arena, & adjacent to Hendricks Park - world famous Rhoddy garden with wild trails for running, walking and manicured gardens for strolling and picnics. My space is peaceful (no tv), comfy and practical - comfy bed with cotton sheets, coffee and tea on the kitchen shelf, outfitted for simple meal prep. Enjoy an outdoor deck and glider as wild turkeys & birds visit. You are welcomed here!

The space
A queen size bed makes the studio ideal for a couple and an ottoman slides out and converts to a single bed (upon request) making the studio ideal for a couple and a child or 3 close friends... or a quiet retreat for one. I've also added some original art by local artist Robert J. Mason. A small library in the nightstand features Oregon poets, stories and lore sharing shelf space with well loved short novels. A deck of cards is in the nightstand or connect to free WIFI to provide your own entertainment. The kitchen is well equipped with a 3 burner stove top for preparing simple meals and there are a variety of restaurants and a market with a full take out deli nearby. You will find a dining guide in the nightstand and I'm happy to make recommendations. An apartment sized refrigerator will hold all you need for a longer stay. Coffee, tea, honey, sugar and yogurt are all provided for you. Everything about the space says "Make yourself at home".

Guest access
There is a covered deck attached to the studio with a comfy glider and a small table for guests to enjoy. The yard and garden outside your window are a joy for gazing. Don't be surprised to see all manor of bird life, deer and wild turkey stroll by. In summer months the flowers are heavenly. And a summer birdbath attracts a variety of bird species.
Smoking is allowed outdoors only.
Parking and driveway are not suitable for oversized trucks. Most SUV's and vans are just fine. Two cars fit well in the parking area with enough room to turn around to head down the driveway which is at about a 45degree incline.

Other things to note
The driveway is a bit steep, but has not been a problem to most guests. Street parking is available across the street from the house, if you don't want to navigate the driveway or if you drive an oversized truck. The street is pretty dark (the better to see the stars!) so if you are arriving after dark, let me know so I can turn on some lights for you. It's a quiet, peaceful neighborhood .... In summer you will likely hear tiny tree frogs, crickets, and occasionally a distant train whistle. The house is a mile from public transportation and is uphill from the U of O and Matthew Knight Arena - good to know if you plan on walking or biking.

My home is in a quiet, wooded neighborhood close to Hendricks Park but only one mile from the University of Oregon, Hayward Field, Matthew Knight Arena and several excellent restaurants. Easy walking distance to Pre's Rock, and about a 10 minute drive to downtown. I5 is about a mile away - if you are driving.

I am happily retired and enjoy sleeping late and the outdoors - short hikes & walks in Hendricks Park which is close by. I also volunteer as a Master Recycler. I like meeting new people and turning them on to the many wonders that Eugene and Lane County have to offer. Originally from the Boston area, I've made Eugene my home since 1989. I have 2 adult children who reside in Port Townsend, WA. I share my home with 2 adult friends. I'm "mom" to an elderly, three legged cat who may greet you when you arrive but is are not allowed inside the studio. I'm open to interaction with guests or equally open to giving you complete privacy. My goal as a host is your comfort. As a guest, my goal is to leave as small a footprint as is possible. I am happy to recycle, if you provide me with info about where to leave recycling and what can be recycled in your area. My friends tell me that I am a "low maintenance guest".

A note on the fridge answers most questions about WIFI, heat, etc. But I am always available to answer more questions should they arise.
