Situated on one of the worlds most beautiful inland lakes, a 1927 Original Log Cabin. Rustic feel with lots of charm. Everyone that visits falls in love with our cozy cabin. It sits on a nice deep lot in the pines and there is dirt road that runs over to Birch Lodge. Perfect setting for families with kids to ride bikes and have room to play. The ice cream truck even visits during summer. Our neighbors are friendly and down to earth. Nice deck overlooking the lake and fire pit lakeside.

The space

Location is close to Lyon Township Hall and Library, Silver Dollar Bar, Westside party store and St. Hubert's Catholic Church. Within 1.5 hour driving distance you can head to Traverse City area or Mackinaw City. A little closer, you can head to Grayling, Houghton Lake or Roscommon for groceries, restaurants, movies, etc. Hartwick Pines State Park can be found East of Grayling. There are bike trails, ORV trails and a new bike trail near the North State Park. The best part is getting out and enjoying the beautiful Higgins Lake. B and B Marina has boat rentals, kayaks, wave runners, sailboats, paddle boards and even yoga on the boards.

The listing shows 2 bedrooms and a loft. One bedroom is located off the living room and the stairs to the loft are located in this room. If you have guests staying in the loft, they will need to access this room. Also, the 2nd bedroom is located in the back next to the bathroom. This is not a typical bedroom - there is no door, but rather a curtain divider. It does not offer the same privacy as having a hard closable door would.

Please let me know any questions you have, I want you to be comfortable and enjoy your stay in our 1927 log cabin.

Interaction with guests

Available by phone, email or text. I am here to answer any questions and want your stay to be enjoyable. I also have a caretaker that will be able to answer your questions and address any issues during your stay. His name is Mike and he is available by phone or text. He lives very close and is responsive to questions you may have. We would like to touch base after the booking and again 24 hours before your check-in to make sure you are all set. After that, enjoy your stay!

Other things to note

There is a round patio table with umbrella and six swivel chairs to enjoy out on the patio.

There is gas grill near the deck.

There is an overnight boat mooring tie-down in the water near the dock. Guests can use this for their boat or jet ski. There are no tie downs located on the dock.

The beach front has a small cement retaining wall with sand on the water side. You would not be able to pull a boat or jet ski up on the beach due to this wall.

We had an amazing time at Kris's lake house. The photos don't do it justice, the views are fabulous! The neighbors are extremely friendly and helpful. The house was cozy and perfect. We had a lovely sunrise view from our bedroom and a perfect lakeview while we ate on the porch. This was exactly what the doctor ordered! Thank you Kris!

You won't be sorry with this cabin! Beautiful, rustic and everything you could want. We loved sitting in the sun room having coffee watching the sunrise. The campfire area is nice right next to the water. A very comfortable home that had more than we anticipated.

This was the perfect place for our getaway. Friendly neighbors, quiet area. Had a great time out on lake during the day and sitting by the fire at night.

Very small cabin with a beautiful lakeside location. If you are willing to give up space for a view, this is the place to be.

You cannot get better than this! The cabin is perfect and has everything you will ever need. The water, dock and views were incredible. You can walk out in knee deep water for about 50 feet. We spent time on the spacious deck and in the sun room with all the windows open. We were lucky to be the 3rd family to rent the cabin and are already planning our next trip. We left a few water floaties behind so others can enjoy them. Kris told me all I needed to bring was beach towels and she was correct. The cabin is stocked with linens for the beds, extra blankets and comforters and plenty of pillows on all the beds. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, baking sheets, plates, bowls, glasses, coffee cups, plastic cups with lids for outside, extra mixing bowls, tupperware, coffee pot, toaster, 2 crock pots, microwave, full size refrigerator, stove and oven, cutting boards, all utensils, some cooking spices, and even plastic margarita glasses. They provide a few towels for the bathroom but you may want to bring a few extra. Mike was a great help and very friendly. It was very convenient he lives 2 doors down. There is a fire pit with a few plastic chairs and Mike was a helpful with finding wood to purchase. There is also a gas grill. If you take a right out of the driveway there is a party store and restaurant(with Keno and a ATM) about 2 miles down. Across the street from that is the Beach hut which has great breakfast and homemade pies. Enjoy your trip, we did!

Great cabin to stay in! The cabin was so cozy and comfortable. My kids felt like the pictures did not do it justice. They have everything you need there to have a great stay and they also have a caretaker who is awesome. He helped us with any questions we had and give us advise about places and events we may want to consider during our stay! We would book this cabin again in a heartbeat!
