The 'Woodshed' is set in 7 acres of secluded gardens, just 2 miles from the pretty harbour village of Boscastle and the South West Coastpath. It is a totally unique detached stone property, which was previously a working man's club and machinery shed. It has now been converted into cosy and comfortable accommodation perfect for 2 people. To the front, there is a 170 year old Victorian walled kitchen garden with fruit, veg, ducks and chickens. We also have pigs and sheep in the fields behind.
Downstairs is an open plan living area and bathroom. There are lots of original and quirky features including a slate-hung shower, homemade kitchen using our own timber, free-standing double ended bath and a Yotul woodburner. The stable door leads out onto a small stone deck that steps down into the Victorian walled kitchen garden. The floor has underfloor heating with reclaimed parque flooring and a patchwork of local Delabole slates. The kitchen has an induction hob with easy-to-use integrated oven below.
Upstairs is a loft style bedroom with a King-size bed (set in a Chesterfield sofa for ultimate comfort!), chest of drawers, clothes hanging space and a desk. Stunning views out over the valley and garden. Please be aware that the timber A-frames upstairs are fairly low - about 5ft 10" (175cm). There are windows at each end, and a large Velux window, with blackout blind.
Guests have sole use of the detached 'Woodshed', including the south-facing patio to the front.
The Woodshed is set in the middle of the grounds of a popular 5* Bed & Breakfast that takes up to 8 guests. You are welcome to explore the lovely gardens.
We also keep sheep, pigs, hens and ducks, who would love to meet you... we feed these guys twice a day, and we may also occasionally be out and about gardening, mowing, chopping wood etc. So you'll probably see us out and about, but the place is yours to enjoy and explore, and if you need anything we're not too far away.
There is off road parking close by. You are welcome to use our washing machine and drying room which is in a nearby building.
Interaction with guests
We live on-site, and help run the Bed & Breakfast with Anna's parents, so there is nearly always someone here if you need any help or recommendations during your stay.
I'll meet you on arrival and show you around the Woodshed and gardens (if it's not too rainy!) so you can make the most of your time here.
Other things to note
You're welcome to bring up to 2 well-behaved dogs, free of charge.
Free firewood is provided.
We have designed a green and sustainable living space. Heating and hot water is run from our wood pellet boiler and we have 80 solar panels to provide the majority of our electricity. Recycling and composting is available.
Hot water is powered by a pump to create the required pressure. This is fairly quiet and provides a good shower and fills the bath up quickly!
High speed broadband and 42" Smart TV. DVD player.
Cupboards will be stocked with all the essentials - salt, pepper, tea, coffee, oil, herbs, spices etc, plus a loaf of bread, butter, milk, yoghurt, muesli and various other goodies. We leave a bottle of wine for stays 4 nights or more.
- This is a rural retreat and we ask guests not to play loud music at any time.
