Built in 1858, this little cottage exudes vintage charm. On the edge of a pretty village, it's a perfect place from which to visit Glastonbury, or explore the beautiful county of Somerset.

Inside, it is thoughtfully prepared to balance its individual style with comfort for guests.

Outside, there is a small garden with fruit and vegetable beds, surrounded with a 'wildlife lawn', apple tree, flowers & hedgerows, and space to eat, rest and unwind, with a view out over an old orchard.

The space

The cottage is on two floors, with a sitting room, kitchen-diner and the bathroom downstairs, and a double bedroom and a single bedroom upstairs.

It has central heating throughout, with the addition of a log burner in the sitting room, making it extra cosy on chilly evenings.

The kitchen-diner is simple but well-equipped, with a walk-in pantry. There is a gas cooker, and a good size fridge/freezer.

The bathroom is on the ground floor. It has a new and efficient over-bath shower, with hot water on demand.
Please bear in mind when booking, there is no toilet upstairs.

There is off-road parking.

Due to the nature of the cottage, this let is only for a maximum of 2 adult guests, plus one child over 12 years old. It is not suitable for younger children or pets.

Guest access

There is a washing machine and tumble dryer, locked for the owner's use only. However, guests staying more than one week are welcome to use these by arrangement.

Guests are welcome to use the garden. There are chairs and a table for dining outside, and a lounger and armchair for relaxing. Guests are welcome to pick some herbs and vegetables to accompany their meals (subject to seasonal availability).

Interaction with guests

I will welcome you to the cottage, show you how everything works and be available during your stay for any questions, suggestions and directions.
Please let me know if you have any particular requests, and I will do my best to help you.
I would be delighted to tell you more about things to do and see in Somerset, and give you some suggestions on the best local places to buy food and eat out.

Other things to note

I may need to access the garden briefly during your stay, to water plants, harvest produce, and to put out the rubbish bins on collection day.
Due to the productive nature and dense planting of the garden, with steps and a stream, it is not suitable for young children or ball games.

Judy's Garden Cottage is a precious and peaceful oasis in a small cosy village a few minutes drive from Glastonbury. We were warmly welcomed by Judy. She had harvested delicious vegtables from her garden, provided us with herb teas and filtered water. The Garden Cottage is well equipped and maintained. We truely enJOYed our week-long stay. A wonderful place to relax, rejuvenate and explore the surroundings. Thank you so mich, Judy.

If you're looking to get away from the busyness of city life Judy's place is definitely for you. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely smell of lavender and a wonderful tour of Judy's garden. The cottage itself was very cosy and homely; kitchen and bathroom well stocked with everything you could possibly need right down to small details. And also very clean. Judy herself was also a great host and made us feel at home. We will definitely be coming back.

The cottage is beautiful, quiet and in a super location. Butleigh is a nice village very close to Glastonbuury and Wells. The accommodation is first class, the garden is secluded and very attractive. The only noise we heard was the occasional baa from the gorgeous sheep in the field at the rear of the cottage. Would highly recommend this place. Judy was the perfect host and made sure we had everything we needed right down to a well-stocked pantry and fridge.

Response from Judy:
Thank you David, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay... those sheep are great, aren't they?!

Judy's cottage is charming, homey and friendly. It shows her eye for details and attention to comfort. We so appreciated the thoughtful food Judy provided. Butleigh is a serene village. We loved the peacefulness, Judy's beautiful garden, and the sounds of sheep and the occasional horse going down the street. A great location for exploring Glastonbury, and convenient to Wells as well.

Response from Judy:
Thank you Margaret, it's been my pleasure having you stay in the cottage. Best wishes for the rest of your UK trip!
