Our Fox room is super comfy and cool. It's a rare room that can host 3 people and has a full private bathroom equipped with hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Smart TV with HBO GO and Fios (super high speed internet). Walking distance to everything including the T (subway) and the #39 bus to take you downtown. Room is secure with its own lock and key. Light breakfast provided. House is set back from the street; a peaceful oasis steps from all of the fun Boston has to offer!

The space

Welcome to The Roost in the artsy and fun neighborhood of Jamaica Plain, Boston!

The House:
Our 1846 single-family home has three cozy, spotless bedrooms available. See also The Lion: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1167221?preview=&sug=50 and The Elephant https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1885386?preview=&sug=50

Down a private drive in the greenest neighborhood of Boston, we’re just five minutes from Jamaica Plain (known as “JP”) city center and only blocks away from two of the areas largest parks: the Arnold Arboretum and Jamaica Pond. Easy access to downtown on the Orange Line, walking distance to either Green Street or Forest Hills Station. This friendly, diverse neighborhood hosts great restaurants welcoming pubs, shops, bakeries, and galleries. We also proudly boast the Sam Adams Brewery, which is open for tours and tastings. Fiore’s is a delicious vegan friendly coffee shop right around the corner. Hubway is conveniently located one block away for bicycle rentals: May-October.

Guest access

Guests may store food in refrigerator and use microwave in kitchen provided that you PLEASE remove all food upon your departure and label the food with your room name (elephant, fox or lion). Tea and coffee available. We can not provide laundry access however there is a laundromat on Rossmore Road about a half mile away. Living room may or may not be available as we sometimes use that space for work. Front and back yard are available to guests, please enter and exit through the front door only.

Interaction with guests

Robin and Jose are available to answer questions and greet arrivals when possible. We encourage guests to message us with ANY concerns or questions either through text or airbnb messaging.

Other things to note

This spot is BEST of all worlds. We are a short walk to all of the shops and train to downtown yet because we are tucked back from the road, it is quiet and feels private. If you turn left out of the driveway you will find the Arnold Arboretum, 281 acres of magnificent foliage. Established in 1872 and planned and designed in collaboration with Frederick Law Olmsted, the Arnold Arboretum is a National Historic Landmark and one of the best preserved of Olmsted’s landscapes.
If you walk straight down the driveway and cross Centre Street you will end up at Jamaica Pond, included in Boston's "Emerald Necklace" of parks in 1892. Many people enjoy walking or running on the 1.5 mile path around the pond.
If you turn right you will be on Centre/South Street where there is an abundance of shops, restaurants and some of the world’s best homemade ice cream at JP Licks.
Keep walking another 10 minutes and hop on the inbound train to go downtown Boston. The State Street T Stop is where you will find the Boston Visitor Center and Quincy Marketplace (Faneuil Hall).

You will enjoy your stay at Robin’s house. Jamaica Plain is a varied and interesting location. The nearby lake and arboretum (check out the bonsai) are lovely. The spacious kitchen is well provisioned and equipped. The house itself is lovely. We stayed in the Fox room which was spacious and comfortable. Public transport is convenient. There are plenty of eating choices within a short stroll. Thank you Robin.

I love Robin's place as its tidy and beautiful!!!the big living and kitchen provided a lot space for us to chat and have breakfast together, while the room was also cozy enough for two people. just a small thing about the stairs if you have a big suitcase with..we kind of struggle with it hard.

Very quiet and cozy. We explored most of the time and used the house only to shower and sleep. We took the bus into town one day and it was very easy to navigate from there. Would stay here again.
