Seoirse's cottage is a (pet friendly) traditional thatched Irish cottage that has been carefully restored and is fully heated with all mod cons. Features such as the bog oak roof, turf fire, flagged stone floor and antique pine furniture create a timeless and relaxing atmosphere.

The space
The cottage has an open kitchen and living room area, 'the heart of the home', which includes, dining table, benches and chairs, dresser, a fireplace, and comfortable 'lounge' chairs and couches.

The kitchens has a gas cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board, and essential crockery, cutlery and cookware. There is access to a communal washing machine and a outside clothes line.

The bedrooms have a large double iron-railed poster bed with and additional 'Settle Bed' next to the fireplace in the living area. This type of bed was a common feature in the early homes, and being close to the fireplace, it is warm and cosy. It also had a curtain for privacy.

The cottage has a shower room with a separate electric shower, a basin and a toilet.

Where you’ll be

Urrismanagh, County Donegal, Ireland

Seorse's cottage is featured on the 'Wild Atlantic Way'. Surrounded by breath taking views of the Urris Hills and beaches as far as the eye can see.

The nearest sandy beach, is the beautifully situated Lennan Bay, only 2km away. Another nearby beach is Tullagh Bay. A perfect location for Hill walkers, The Seven Peaks Walk in the Urris Hills is said to be one of the finest walks in Ireland.

On the way there, you will see the Pub known as The Rusty Nail. It is the name of a cocktail, but is also reputed to have been named after a flame haired owner of the 1930s. Stop for a drink, or a meal, with hot, tasty food including many varieties of local sea-food. - And you are always guaranteed good craíc and live music on the weekends.

There are eight pubs in Clonmany, and in nearby Ballyliffin, there are five hotels, as well as catering facilities at the golf club, - a fair choice of local establishments for wining and dining. A fifteen minute drive will get you to the famous Ballyliffin Golf Club, with its two links courses. In the same area, on the Isle of Doagh, a visit to the Doagh Famine Village is highly recommended. An outdoor museum that tells the story of life in the area from the famine back in the 1840s, to the present day. You will be fascinated to see cottage interiors very similar to the one you will be staying in, showing how people lived and used the resources they had then.

Drive south over the Mamore Gap, and take a right turn at the next intersection, where the road will take you to Dunree and the fort, which you can visit. It has a military museum, an art gallery and a coffee shop. View the big naval guns that were used to defend Lough Swilly, and see panoramic views over a Lough that extends some 40km southwards.

For hill walkers, the cottages are a good starting point to explore the Urris Hills, if one walk must be chosen in all Inishowen”, this is it. The 'Seven Peakes Walk' in the Urris Hills is said to be one of the finest walks in Ireland. Visit the Glenevin Waterfall near Clonmany, a short walk from the road, along a well sign-posted safe path with picnic areas and foot bridges criss-crossing the babbling stream along the way.

Hello, My name is Niall Kearney. I manage Mamore Cottages on Air BnB. There is a choice of five beautiful original 'Donegal Style' thatched cottages. Originally built 150 years ago:- they are all similar in style and appearance, and your choice will be determined by the size of your family or group. Each cottage is named after the last owner/tenant who occupied it - Mary's Cottage, Kate's Cottage, Mickey's Cottage, Seoirse's Cottage and Willie Dan's Cottage. Each Cottage has been carefully restored and is fully heated with all mod cons. Features such as thatched bog oak roof, open turf fire, flagged stone floor and old pine furniture create a timeless atmosphere.
