This is a large, oval bedroom with en suite full bath in a luxury home in a beautifully landscaped setting. The property has a heated pool, hot tub and tennis court. The couple's home was designed and decorated by a noted architect and interior designer. Set on 6 landscaped acres, this retreat is more like a country club. The bedroom has a separate entrance. Morning light floods the bedroom if desired. A continental breakfast is included. The pool and hot tub are open from Memorial to Labor Day.

The space

There is a large circular driveway and a grand, contemporary main entrance. There is also a tennis court on the property and we border a 126 acre farm yet are only a mile from major interstate thoroughfare York Rd. and highway I-83. We are two miles from the Warren Rd. Light Rail station. The Light Rail comes from the airport, goes through the football and baseball stadiums, downtown Baltimore, Penn (train) Station and goes all the way to Hunt Valley (Cockeysville).

Guest access

Access to the house - The separate private entrance for the guests requires the ability to navigate outdoor staircases so guests must be sufficiently mobile to be able to go up and down concrete steps without assistance. The house is built on a hillside so one enters the house through the main (West) entrance which appears to be on the first floor but in fact, when entering the house from the east entrance, is the second floor. The oval guest room, which is not wheelchair accessible, is on the first floor. Virtually all the furniture in the room was custom made by a local cabinetmaker to be built-in to the round walls at either end of the oval room.
Guests have access to the living room, formal dining room, gallery, den, powder room, and solarium with treadmill. There are beautiful views through most of the home's 175 windows. A continental breakfast - a nice spread with cloth napkins and silver service - consisting of juice, fresh fruit, coffee or tea, croissants, muffins and/or bagels, is included in the price of the room.

Interaction with guests

Dr. Ken has a home office in the house and so is present daily. He is friendly and helpful and can suggest places to go and things to do in the area if needed.

Other things to note

Cockeysville and Hunt Valley are one and the same with the same zip code.
Bring your tennis racquets or borrow ours! Swimsuits are optional as the setting is totally private. Guests assume all risk and responsibility for use of the pool and hot tub and must acknowledge that there is no lifeguard, indemnify the hosts and agree to hold the hosts harmless in case of accident (must sign waiver to swim). We keep the pool and hot tub open Memorial Day until Labor Day.

My stay at this Airbnb home was outstanding. I was warmly welcomed, and everything was absolutely perfect, from the amazingly comfortable bed and the beautiful home and landscaping to the excellent homemade breakfast. Dr. Ken and Dr. Sam are wonderful hosts and delightful people. I highly recommend Dr. Ken as a super host, and will not hesitate to return when I need to come back to this part of Maryland.

Dr. Ken's place is a beautiful California style home that is worth spending your time in. Their proud owners have lovingly built and developed this home with awareness of the beautiful nature around it and smartly invites the sunlight. Dr. Ken and Sam graciously received us with breakfast every morning and they were very attentive of our needs. They respected our privacy and were able to enjoyed their hot tub on a pleasant Saturday afternoon. The room we stayed is downstairs and is clean, comfortable with everything we needed to make our stay perfect. What I most enjoyed was Ken and Sam's company during breakfast. Great people with a great home! Will recommend this place to family, friends and of course you! ;)

I am so happy to have found this hidden gem. After a day visiting our son at Goucher College we were delighted to have a lovely, quiet, comfortable room for the night. Even better was waking up to see the rest of this beautiful home and garden. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and conversation with wonderful hosts Ken and Sam.

Response from Dr. Ken:
You're certainly welcome. It was our pleasure to have met and hosted you and hope that we see you again. You and Jonathan are examples of what makes hosting as an Airbnb so much fun and so interesting. Next time, we'll teach you bridge if you don't already play! Haha

Dr. Ken was friendly and hospitable and his place was clean and comfortable. The hot tub closed a little earlier than expected but we got to take advantage of his pool and tennis court and he was kind enough to let us borrow his tennis rackets. Breakfast was also a plus! Overall it was a great stay.

Airbnb fellows, look no further for a once of a kind experience. Let the entrance to your temporary stay feel like you've made it! From arrival to departure your lifestyle will be transformed, the quiet of the encompassing flora lining your private entrance create tranquility; take a moment to disconnect from the city life. Stretch out your arms and legs on the king size bed and enjoy the convenience of an attached private bath. Though your stay may be temporary the closet space will be plenty to stage your outfits for however many days. Even though the site is remote and removed from the Baltimore hustle, it's surprisingly convenient, just up the hill from easy access to the freeways to take you where you need to go. As far as the hosts, well be prepared to be wowed with generosity. From the lavish presentation of the simple perfect size breakfast to start your day, to the extension of anything you may need ( iron/board, towels, etc) these two gents are wonderful. If you're a couple on a long weekend I guarantee you will not find a better place in the Baltimore area!

Dr. Ken's home is a delightful oasis of tranquility. My wife and I spent a weekend and greatly enjoyed the pool, surroundings, and a late night fire at the large fire pit. He is an inviting host and clearly enjoys having folks visit. The room was clean and spacious.
