Our Cottage home is in a gated community, with access to our association pool and playground and crabbing dock. A short drive takes you to the beaches, restaurants, outlet stores ,biking/hiking trails and boardwalks in Lewes and Rehoboth Beach . For a first time treat, try your hand at crabbing with your string around a chicken neck and your trusty net to land your crabs. All tools plus chicken parts provided and David will steam your catch of the day for you.

The space

Our single family home was built in the ranch style with everything on one floor. While our guest room looks Victorian, there is nothing antique about the private bath down the hall with its whirlpool tub and a rain shower head. For those traveling with others there are additional private bedrooms for three or four people. The living room offers a TV, reading or chat space. Beverages and snacks are offered and our guests select between a continental breakfast or one from a menu of choices.

Guest access

Our house lends itself to easy transitioning from bedrooms and bath to the living room with its flat screen TV or to the sunroom for conversational groupings. While our galley kitchen is small, the Keurig coffee pot is readily available for a variety of k-cups of coffees, teas or hot chocolate. There are house wines and locally brewed beers with snacks upon request.

Interaction with guests

As your hosts, we shall be on the premises throughout your stay and can
serve as a wealth of knowledge about the area, activities, alternative plans, or places to experience for true dining pleasure. David is a gourmet cook and we offer you your preference in breakfasts or late evening snacks. There is a complimentary crabbing kit for you and either
of us can take on the helpful instructions for the first timers.

Other things to note

During the high vacation days of Memorial Day to Labor Day, the community is filled with owners of vacation homes and perennial renters. After labor day, although there are many weekend activities in Rehoboth which continue into the fall, the area reverts to calm and routine.
The pool, with our resident passes is open from 10 am to 7pm, the playground for young children has new equipment. There also are tennis
courts and 2 bocci ball courts.

This is a great place to stay. Dave and Marj are wonderful hosts. They are very helpful and supportive of any adventure you might want to undertake in the area. The breakfasts are delicious, and each night you get a bedtime snack. We enjoyed the freedom of the house while there. Dave and Marj are great conversationalists and will even hold still for a joke or two, no matter how corny. We loved it and will go back anytime.

David and Margorie were two of the best hosts we could imagine. They really took the time to get to know us and to know things we liked to do and the foods we liked to eat. They were full of suggestions as to places we may find of interest while enjoying our stay in beautiful Lewes Deleware. We will be making another stop in the near future. Thank you again David and Margorie

We had an amazing time with David and Marjorie. Even though we had never met them before it was like visiting old friends. The room was not large but beautiful and comfortable, breakfast was delicious and we didn't want for anything. We hope to visit them again.

If you are looking for a place to stay where you feel like family then Davids place is it! They are very accommodating, and had great suggestions of things to do in the area. Their home is on the smaller side, so know that you will be interacting with them, but they are the sweetest people ever! They even played with my two children like they were their grandparents! (And my children LOVED them!) Crabbing on the dock was one of my sons (and husbands) favorite things to do, and sitting on their front porch is a must! They even thought to put snacks and drinks in our rooms at night! So thoughtful!! I def recommend this experience if you're looking for a low key trip where you feel like you're visiting with family! We will def be back.

David and Marjorie were great hosts. The house was quaint and very friendly. The beds were very comfortable and their dog was sweet. Marjorie was very welcoming and gracious to our whole family.

You will surly find this little nugget of comfort and hospitality akin to time spent with your favorite friends and relatives. You will feel right at home, pampered and given the space you need for renewal. The coffee, evening snacks, and fresh fruit were served as if we were royalty.

hospital chaplain: wife an insurance broker. Grandchildren love to come. Gourmet cooking, gardening, golf, fishing. Sampling the 150 restaurants in the area is a delight . Climate is great (we no longer shovel snow !) So much to do; so little time.
My constant companion is our 13 year old West Highland Terrier. He is excellent with children and thinks he is the doorman.
