Romantic cottage. Choice fittings, modern amenities, set beneath a folly. Perfect for everyone to unwind in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or stroll to the promenade and pier to visit shops, cafes and pubs. Original features and wooden floors. Relax by our multi-fuel stove or explore local footpaths with breath-taking coastal and countryside views. Superb motorway/road links with village train station to explore the rest of the Lakes or visit Manchester, Kendal or Lancaster.
Our home is very old, charming and much loved, with modern amenities.
It is one of three cottages in private grounds in a beautiful, unusual setting, with churches, shops, nature reserve, local beauty spots, local walks, bus stops and railway station all linked by well-kept footpaths, lit by traditional street lights at night.
Walkers and climbers are very welcome but please everyone remove boots or any outdoor footwear at the door and help protect the wooden floors and our upstairs carpets.
The bedrooms are quite spacious. The sofa bed in bedroom 2 is smaller than the bed in bedroom 1 and might not be suitable for two larger people. We provide an extra floor mattress just in case.
You may feel this is a home more ideal for adults than children. However, a very small baby (pre-toddler) can easily be accommodated and we have access to a travel cot. Contact Jo if you want to discuss this more.
We have fibre optic, broadband hi-speed and BT Sport/freeview. We have found mobile phone reception to be good, with no need for a landline phone.
Our neighbours are important to us. They are good friends of ours and great, helpful neighbours. Like us, they enjoy their privacy and the tranquillity of home, so please respect their peace and quiet and keep to our garden and drive.
You are welcome to use the barbecue. Please, as with everything in our home, leave it clean, using the equipment/products provided
Interaction with guests
We look forward to meeting you and sharing our home. You will be able to contact Jo by email throughout your stay. We embrace the idea of forging a widening circle of new and different friends through guests feeling comfortable and eager to return on a regular basis
Other things to note
We have free roadside parking. Access to the house is via a short footpath. Occasionally, if there is a special service such as a wedding, there may be a sign outside the church asking that the entrance is kept clear. This all adds to the charm of our village life.
- If you would like to check in before 3 pm, sometimes our schedules will allow this. So contact Jo and we will do what we can.
- Please always respect the peace and quiet of our two neighbours and only use our garden.
- Please remove shoes before entering our home, to protect our ancient wooden floors and our carpets. Thank you.
We love to travel and meet people and find out about different places, customs, cultures and foods. We also adore our romantic country bolt-hole cottage and relish the idea of sharing its retreat-like qualities with fellow travellers. We like good music, art, fashion, comedy and food and wine. We are as happy in the countryside as the city, so long as the company is kind and helpful. We hope you enjoy sharing our home with us.
