On the Sea. A wonderful cabin. It is comfortable and private, high cielings, one bedroom, bathroom, and full size sitting/breakfast/kitchen room with a long sofa. You are 500 feet from the wharf which is the hub of this outport. We are located conveniently on the Southern Shore, close enough to St. John's, Petty Harbour, Ferryland, Trepassy and even St. Vincent for day excursions.

The CABIN is located next to the Barn, Bunky and Teepee on the property.

The space

In the fotos it is the ORANGE CABIN. If this CABIN is not available for the dates you would like, please look at our COTTAGE, BARN, BUNKY, and TEEPEE on AIRBNB. All our properites are listed as East Coast Newfoundland Cottage and Cabins. Thanks.

The cabin comforts are basic, the space wonderful. The surrounding area, absolutely beautiful. We also offer locally sourced food on site at extra cost.

Located on the East Coast Trail, we are at the head of the trail to La Manche Park in Bauline East. From the house it is a 40 minute hike to the swinging bridge where the waterfalls is topped by one of our many swimming holes in the area. The East Coast Trail is 300km of spectacular trails.

We have a pond across the street for swimming, rocky beach for bonfires and kayaking is also near by. There is also a tour boat that leaves from our harbour to view humpback whales while visiting the bird island reserves off the coast.

Two rooms. One bedroom has Queen size bed, the other with sofa/bed that is also the living/dining room with an outside patio. All cotton sheet and down covers. The kitchen includes a dining table and all the amenities including toaster oven, refrigerator, microwave and outdoor shared BBQ with gas or coal (bring if you prefer!). This second room can be converted into a bedroom on request. The bathroom has a hot shower and there is another outdoor shower as well. There is WiFi and a smart TV with NetFlix.

Bauline East is an outport settled about 150 years ago. Derived from the French word "baleine" meaning whale, Bauline East is a fishing village of twelve homes with all the seasonal activity of fishing and crabbing.

This is an ideal space for people who enjoy rustic living, suited for artists or traveling adventurers, loungers (there is hammocks), hikers, whale watchers, bird spotters and music festival goers..

We are 50 minutes south of St. John's, approximately 380 miles north by northwest and 1,000 meters above the sunken Titanic, in a sheltered cove overlooking the Atlantic.

NB: PRICE - If you are worried about the price being reasonable, please don't be, it goes with our idea that people should bring prices down rather than take them up. We could charge more, but we don't, we want to rent at a price which we would want to rent at but with the quality that we would also want. We do not go for this overprice motel mentality.

Guest access

A full cabin with porch. Shared BBQ. The property is more like a compound with four structures. Other than the Main House or Cottage you have the most livable space . Parking is off the street.

Interaction with guests

If we are here we interact or not depending on guests.

Other things to note

The weather is all over the place, I have been in the most miserable weather in Newfoundland with six weeks of bad weather during the summer, but then again while the rest of the world was suffering from cold and misery, Newfoundland was brilliant and beautiful. You never know.

The location is so spectacular, and you are right on a gorgeous small cove with a pebble beach, fishing pier, and the lullabye of the ocean. Just a walk up the road is the East Coast trail. A short drive to so many sights of interest. The cabin is wonderfully comfortable and cozy, with everything you need, and George and Chabela so welcoming and available and hospitable. I have never felt so relaxed, joyful, and peaceful on a vacation. Already dreaming of my teturn.

George and Chabela were lovely hosts and the cabin is in a beautiful setting. The muffins were a nice treat upon arrival and they were very helpful during our short stay. I think it's important to note that the cabin is quite rustic--unfinished, clean but just a step up from camping. If you are looking for creature comforts, this may not be the place for you. It's not a criticism at all, the photos are accurate and it seems like it has been a lovely experience for many visitors.

George & Chabela are great hosts! They provide the perfect amount attentiveness. We rented the cabin and the BUNKY for 3 adults, myself, my husband and my father-in-law. It was the perfect amount of space. Each cabin was well equipped with everything we needed and more. The location is sublime. We had a fire on the beach by the ocean. Went for a scenic boat ride with a local fisherman. The cabins are right at the edge of the east coast trail, so great hiking spots, we even did a bit of foraging. Only a few minutes walk to a swimming spot. You really could not ask for a better seaside vacation. We stayed for 3 nights, but could have stayed longer. There were so many great things about our stay! We will be back!

George & Chabela were the most helpful and generous airbnb hosts I've ever had. My parents and I stayed in "Cabin" and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. It had a perfect rustic ambience, with all the comforts of home. The location was great for walking trails or day trips in your car. George even arranged for my father and I to go on a private boat tour - a once in a lifetime experience. I recommend only the friendliest travellers stay with George and Chabela as they only deserve only the best guests!

My sister and I stayed in the cabin for two nights and it was absolutely lovely! A great spot if you want to hike some of the nearby East Coast Trail or check out some of the other nearby towns. We took a dip on the nearby pond and enjoyed a bonfire by the beach outside the cabin. George and Chabela were very knowledgeable and helpful. Hope to stay again on a future trip. :)

We love Atlantic Canada and spend a lot of time in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
