I have been running The Old School Hostel with my partner Chris for 10 years now. We came here after a year of travelling around Britain when we volunteered at Youth Hostels and on organic farms. We both enjoyed seeing more of Britain and when we have the opportunity for a break we still choose explore our home island. However in the past we've both travelled overseas; working and travelling our ways around the world. We love nature and the great outdoors, so being here in north Pembrokeshire is perfect for both of us. As often as possible we walk the spectacular coast path which on our doorstep. Our village's name, Trefin, means 'village on the edge'. We love the way the sea changes daily and how you never know what you might see! There's some rare birds that make this area home and we feel privileged when a chough or peregrine fly by. I'm very keen on identifying wild flowers and these are at their most brilliant in Spring and early Summer. Occasionally we're fortunate enough to spot badgers too.
I've discovered the wonderful activity of rowing in a Pilot Gig on the sea, and am learning to kayak too.
Although it feels very remote here we're not short of cultural activities with art, films, theatres, festivals and dancing all nearby.
