Our charming Breton long-house provides a spacious and comfortable rural retreat exclusively for couples. Far reaching views and restored original features combine in this character gite where it is easy to relax and enjoy a slower pace of life.
La Petite Longere is a spacious ground floor vacation rental, exclusively for couples; it is situated in part of an ancient stone long-house which has been sympathetically renovated to make it comfortable for modern life whilst retaining original features. We live next door in the other part of the longere, so as your hosts we are on hand to assist our guests if required, but we ensure we do not intrude on your holiday.
Enter though a traditional Breton arched doorway into the double height hall where stripped oak beams and exposed A-frames illustrate the structure of the building. The open plan galley kitchen has a large window seat and plentiful equipment for self-catering throughout the year. The dual aspect living room is furnished with two large comfy sofas around the efficient woodburner, the dining area has french doors that open onto the bbq terrace. The double bedroom has another set of french doors and provides lots of storage space; the modern shower room is adjacent to the bedroom.
Outside guests have a large private terrace with hardwood outdoor dining furniture, built-in barbecue plus padded loungers. This is a lovely spot to chill out and enjoy far reaching views to the distant forest; the sunsets can be amazing and lack of light pollution means clear night skies that are ideal for star gazing.
With the River Lie running through the valley below the longere and Loudeac Forest on the opposite bank, this area is perfect for walkers and nature lovers. Cycle and kayak hire is available from a nearby sports centre and a local riding stables organises accompanied pony treks through the forest. It is 4km to a friendly market village with local shops, a creperie, bar, post office and bank; within 10 minutes there are larger shops and a selection of good places for eating out. In the area there are regular farmers, craft and antique markets. There are a couple of large inland lakes with water sports, the stunning scenery of north coast, chateaux and several fascinating medieval towns, all just an easy drive.
Guests have exclusive use of La Petite Longere and the terrace with BBQ area directly outside the gite

Penny and Ray McClure, we are a married couple who have been managing vacation rentals since 2006. We have also renovated several properties starting with our own two gites; La Belle Maison and La Vieille Longere, each of each we lived in before starting to rent them out to ensure that they feel like and are equipped as proper homes from home, not as faceless, one size fits all lets. We now live in the same hamlet as our holiday cottages and are pleased to welcome guests to this tranquil place.
We love France, particularly the laid back lifestyle, fresh seasonal food and of course the wine! We have found that this part of Brittany a particularly welcoming place to live, where the local community has been more than happy to include us amongst their number.
