The space

This charming 200 - 300 year old villa offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy the food, wine and rich history of this spectacular region. Named "Les Deux Sources" and surrounded by rolling hills, the property's spacious interiors are tastefully furnished, with the emphasis on comfort.

Comprising 3 generous bedrooms, 3 modern bathrooms, large kitchen, lounge, dining and outdoor entertaining deck, the villa is perfectly suited to 3 couples. Alternatively, the king size beds can be made into six large singles.

The location cannot be beaten. "Les Deux Sources" is just a 5-minute drive or 15-minute stroll along the banks of the Cele River. The house sits on the protected side of a hill, each light-filled room overlooking the beautiful Cele valley, ideal for walking, cycling, lake and river kayaking and car trips.

The property's one and a half acres of wooded garden contains a variety of deciduous trees - walnut, hazelnut, apple, oak, white and purple fig trees. There are 2 water sources that deliver a constant stream of natural spring water from the mountains - hence the name, "Les Deux Sources". The garden also boasts an ancient stone four à pain {bread oven}, a little stone stable and a stone lavoire.

Thus it is more a "country house" in its rusticity and separateness, but has the huge advantage of being within easy walking distance, and part of, the vibrant town of Figeac.

There's something really magical about Helen's place. Located a 10-15 minute stroll from the town of Figeac, the house sits off a quiet road and is very private and serene. While easily accessible from the nearby train station, we had a car which made things a little easier. The house itself marries old world charm with all the required mod cons. We stayed in the huge master bedroom (we were spoiled for choice as the other two rooms both have stunning views out to the valley). The kitchen was well stocked and the whole place was spotless. A MUST is the weekend market in town. The produce is amazing and the town square was buzzing. We cooked up a storm back at the house and enjoyed our delicious dinner (and wine) on the outdoor patio. Thank you again Helen for letting others experience this incredibly special home. We are in love with Figeac and can't wait to come back again.

I've owned the house in Figeac for eleven years. I was entranced by the town with its ancient origins, extraordinary medieval architecture and friendly, hospitable locals. A lover of food and wine, I throughly enjoy the produce, including foie gras, duck and the deep red Cahors wine direct from the properties in the Lot region.

One of my favourite pastimes is sitting in the garden on the stone patio with a glass of wine, admiring the pastoral views and the chorus of beautiful birds that abound in the property. For me, the magic of the property is that it is on a quiet country road on the edge of the town but close enough for a leisurely stroll into the centre.

I had the house beautifully restored by a local heritage architect and builder, filling it with all of the mod cons and comforts you could wish for.

Guests tell me they have wonderful, relaxing holidays and feel that its just like their own home, but quintessentially French.

While I am Australian, I always feel at home in Figeac. I'm sure you will as well.
